For Those Of You Who Host Your Own Groups...

do you, or Do you not, like it when people thank you for featuring their art in your group. I was reading earlier (can't remember where), that group hosts do not like it. But in every group I see post after post of "thank you".

When I ran groups...I did not like all the many separate "Thank You" discussions started....especially when I specifically asked people NOT to do that...

I personally just post a "thank you so and so for featuring this picture on such and such a group" on my specific pictures page

Also, JMHO, I think it's a bit "tacky" when people post in their descriptions of the picture a "this was featured in x,y&z groups"...but that is just my opinion. Also, some people changed the actual NAME of their picture to include where it was featured! Bad idea as they break all the links that were already shared while it had a different name.

Gregory,

For me, I enjoy that feed back. And featuring an image, generally isn't an everyday thing, so really not a lot of work from the Group Admin's side..........

If you mean in the group discussion forums, I do not like it. Lucikly it doesn't seem to happen much. In the past, I have created The Official Thank You Thread.

I used to feature a new work from each member in the group...every month...so it was a lot of work.

I also created a discussion in my group, "Please post your thank you messages here". Some use it. Others still create a new thank you discussion. I leave them up for a while then delete them.

When I see one of my images being featured in a group on my activity page, I place my thank you for the feature in the comment field beneath the particular image.

Groups rate activity level by the most posts in the discussion area. Awhile back it caught on that each thank you moved your group to the front. Some of us added a thread for people to leave a comment. I'd rather see interesting discussions and I know some members don't want to scroll through pages of thank yous to find them. I personally thank others for features and comments on my individual pages. Especially since it will only show 3 features and you may be in more than that.
