Lost... And Found

A few years ago, I suffered a hard drive crash. I didn't have anything backed up, foolishly, and I didn't think to try to get anything off of it at the time. Over the years, I have found CDs I had saved and even a few SD cards, but last night, when scouring my external hard drive, I came across a high resolution pic I was sure was gone. I could have done a happy dance if my wife and kids weren't in the room. Every once in a while, I will find a high res file where other shots I know were taken the same day seem gone forever. I can and can't reshoot this one. Trains run on the same tracks, but all but one of these engines are gone and for a long time, this railroad was known for the little engines seen here.

Photography Prints

Not sure where this shot was hiding, but I am sure glad I found it.

I know full well the pain of a hard drive crash. I lost all my finished work from 2008-2012 when my hard drive went kablooey. It will take at least $800 for some geeks to pull it apart and attempt to get to its core and get my images and files. I bought a hard drive box that has two different ports so that I could attempt a retrieval, but so far nothing. The good news is that 2 other hard drives DID work in the box and I got even older work I thought was lost.
It might be worth it to you to check this out. It was about $30 for the box. You take the hard drive out of its own case and place it in this one. Then plug in whichever connection serves it, plug it into your computer and cross your fingers. I don't have the name of it but I'm sure if you go to your local computer repair geek an tell him the problem and that you need a case he'll hook you up.
