What's the point about all this following and favouring?
First I felt flattered when some work of mine became a favourite of somebody. But what when you find out that some here favour anything coming their way - and instead of a selection it's more about collecting mass - how should this work as a marketing strategy, once everybody likes everybody? Shouldn't there be a limit to likes - maybe one a day or so?

So basically what you're suggesting is that FAA censor the way someone faves, likes and follows folks? You're seriously over thinking it. I love to get any kind of feedback and I love to follow folks here to see what they are doing. It pushes me to do better in some ways. But I don't worry too much about it either way.

I didn't know it was a marketing strategy. I follow artists I like so i don't forget them and i can find them easy. I favorite pieces I want to look at again or possibly buy. The idea that somehow likes, favs, comments, etc are going to be cumulative and keep moving you up the search or somehow magically result in sales is most likely false. It's good to have some activity on an image and maybe that just proves the image was not just dumped here. And maybe that moves you or your art up a slot over those with no activity. But largely is is not a very productive way to market. I don't see how having too many likes hurts anything so why put a limit on them.

Edit to add. If you think a limit should be put on likes so they don't count any more for search ranking, you can be sure that is in place. They are not going to let gaming of the system like that influence search ranking. The amount that count in a search is probably a lot lower than most people think.

well i don't like anyone, so i don't favor or follow. some follow so they can take design ideas, others just want to be a part of the crowd. fav'ing a picture is the same. it becomes more like a collection. in the end it used to help people in the search, but not so much now.
