What Is Wrong With The Artistwebsites.com In Google Search?

Hello,

Does anyone have any idea why does google search omit my website in searches?

I have been keeping an eye on it for a longer while and it struggles most of the time to find it...

I have picked my name: "tgchan" especially for it's uniqueness and easiness to find via google and I have been using it for more than 10years... Yet somehow google have trouble to find

http://tgchan.artistwebsites.com/

and sometimes it's not even there in search at all (like today)

I have started with "Thomas G. Chan" name since FAA won't let you fill only a name (you have to use space-bar in last name in order to save changes). Later on, I have asked Abbie for a change of the url (thank you again, Abbie)

I have been testing google search plenty of times and I have noticed that it would not search my http://tgchan.artistwebsites.com/ (search: tgchan) at all, until I have changed my title from:

"Fine Art Photography by Thomas G. Chan"

to

"Fine Art Photography by tgchan"

Even though the URL was same for a longer while... it completely ignores my name in the URL.

Do you really need a custom domain to have it properly listed in google search or am I missing something?

EDIT:

Oh, I forgot to add that the http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/tgchan.html is always there in searches, no problem with that at all.

They are just now being picked up. Using your google analytics, and using the Submit URL area on Google can help

I have analytics installed and submitted URL. Sometimes (like today) the site is not in search engine at all :(

Can you please explain what do you mean by "They are just now being picked up." ?

They were not doing very well on Google before but with the new look came other changes and they are now being seen better.

the artist site is a double, google only wants the first one it finds which is FAA. its also a subdomain, and google doesn't like those either. if you force a search it will find you. but it will send people to FAA (partly because the internal links on the artist site, pixels, earthporn, etc all point to FAA. on the plus side yahoo, bing and the others seem to favor the artist site.

and speaking of that - what happened to the stats? i lost a whole month of stats on my site. and analytics is useless for me.

I wanted to ask the same question! My AW comes up on Bing and Yahoo, but is nowhere to be found on Google. I just changed my domain name hoping it would be more visible on Google search.and I submitted the URL to Google Webmaster tools.

I'm seeing my AW on the 3rd page in Google search, That's an improvement!

Appreciate it Abbie!

Thank you very much Mike for your straight and no BS answer.

So it seems like artistwebsites.com is useless for google search...

I understand that you need a custom domain to successfully list it for google, right?

I have posted similar question on google forums but I am still waiting for a good answer. As soon as I will learn anything, I will share it.
