Samsung has gained some market shares! I was looking at Samsung last week. Anyone using Samsung primarily?

“Aren't all camera's mobile?”

Not really. Not in the truest sense of the word.

Samsung and Apple are likely phone/tablet cameras. Love my Samsung phone camera but I am still getting a Canon 6D on payday.

Samsung has a new slr, which is meant to be pretty impressive

I know nothing about Samsung cameras but I found one in the desert a couple months ago and a new battery arrived for it today. It has obviously been out in extreme weather for a long time so I was delighted to fire it up and find that it still functions perfectly. We're not talking high-end Samsung but still they put some effort into construction or it would never have withstood the elements.

I often go to Flickr for the camera galleries. To be able to see what the actual images might be like as taken by amateurs or semi-pros, rather than the images supplied for review purposes on various sites has definitely influenced my purchasing. Just type in a brand and model, and gaze in wonder at the potential!

Not only that you can view photos from noted photographers or photos that have appeal and determine what settings were used to take the photo.

Whoa, dude... a shocker.

From 2013 to 2014 when speaking about brands, both Canon and Nikon increased their market share BUT Apple (assume iphone) climbed over Nikon into 2nd place, pushing Nikon back to 3rd.

That must have been a substantial shock to those sitting around the Nikon Board Room table.

The whole long history is very interesting. When I was shooting for newspapers way back when, Nikon was it. Period, end of sentence. They had a HUGE market majority. It would be interesting to read the long-term history and how either (a) others climbed over Nikon, or (b) Nikon bungled it away.

Here too, Dan, in Chicago when I shot news pics this was a Nikon town .... now it is a Canon town. Rumor has it that Nikon costs too much to maintain and the sensors on Canon are better. But I can't say as I'm now a Pentaxian.

Too bad there can't be a crosstab for quality.
