Nikon Vr Lens

Is there a great difference between a NIKON manual lens and the motorized NIKON VR lens ??

Yes the VR lens ( Vibration Reduction ) automatically compensates for any image focus blur caused by camera movement when you are not using a tripod. They recommend turning off VR when you use a tripod.

VR when used often allows you to use a higher F stop for more depth of field and/or a slower shutter speed when hand-holding your camera.

My ultra heavy but optically stratospheric f2.8G 70-200 VR II
has its vibration reduction attuned for bumpy vehicles, and
less for handheld use. But at 2.8 it is not really looking for much
help light-wise when handheld.
