What Is Conceptual Art?

12/15/2014 Dear fellow FAA artists: What is your definition of Conceptual Art? There are in fact quite a few. Some involve making physical art; some do not. I myself tend to make conceptual pieces that are often identified with Performance Art. In fact, they could fall into the category of "Happenings." I would also like to inform you that a new group has been formed at FAA to address these questions--the Conceptual Art Group. This group holds discussions on topics related to conceptual art & is currently sponsoring a Contest for the best conceptual art Proposal that must be submitted within two weeks of today (i.e., Monday, Dec. 29). The latest member to the Conceptual Art Group (CAG) is Evan Steenson of Toronto, Canada, who identifies as being a Conceptual Artist. He has many intriguing pieces viewable at his account site. If anyone has made or enacted a piece of Conceptual Art, please describe it in its fullness. What was its intention? What was the result? How did you Document it? Please go to the Conceptual Art Group site to view members' conceptual works. Upload your own conceptual art pieces at the site for consideration as well. Yours, Al Fresko
