Rights Management Pricing

I'm only now able to consider Rights Management.

How do we know how much to charge in order to remain competitive? Or to charge within reason?

Also, can we sell the same image to two separate entities at the same time?

If this has been addressed before, since I'm late getting into this, please point me to the proper forum. Thanks.

You can set your prices however you like (I do), but I've noticed the majority of Pixels licensing sellers use the "Getty" default prices. So that would be a good place to start.

Yes, you can sell licenses to different buyers. The licenses are not exclusive.

Rights Management means you are selling specific rights - rights for a specific product for a specific length of time. For example a coffee cup manufacturer would buy rights for a run of coffee mugs. You wouldn't turn around and sell the same image to another coffee mug manufacturer at the same time. That's the "management" part.

Here is a good article on pricing: http://mariabrophy.com/art-licensing/what-to-charge-for-art-licensing-royalties-advances-and-flat-fees.html

I couldn't figure it out - so I just just used the "Getty" default. I don't know if I ever expect anything to come of it - same with the pillows.

PS: both the licensing and the pillows are on my beardless account of photographs - not ever licensing my digital abstracts - well - there is that $6.5M price but for that they could even buy the ©

Edward, the Pixels rights managed licenses do not grant exclusive rights, they only "manage" the production numbers and the time window. So two mug makers could indeed purchase rights to the same image through Pixels.

Good to know. Another reason I license though an agency.

Thank you all for your comments. I had planned to turn on my pricing soon as possible but now I have visitors for the week. I'll get back to this soon as possible. Any further comments are welcome, however. Thanks again.
