Prices Of Prints

Hi all, I raised this question once before but lost my notes. Can you tell me what you charge for prints of paintings and for cards? Thank you all. Bev

Its best you just look around at other people's profiles and click under the price of one of their works where it says "see price details".
I don't think anyone will just go ahead and post a list of their prices here.

Hi, Beverly;

What you can do is find similiar artists, click on "Art Prints" then side the price, click on "Show Price Details." You can go through the different sizes and see what folks charge. FAA will add a $5 fee on those prices. It looks like you're a little low to me. I charge more for photography than you do for your art when I would think it should at least be more even, even not a little more for art. On cards, I charge for a 5X7 print except in caseswhere I have made it an actual card and market it that way.

its up to you on how much you want and what you think your stuff is worth. the card should be a little lower than the smallest print. beyond that just place a price. if it doesn't sell, you can lower it. or start low and move up. the price points will vary from person to person and how well they are known and liked.

Thank you, I like the flexibility of changing prices. I have been selling bookmarks originals of my birds at a gallery and people are matting them and framing them. Wonder if I could sell that size here, usually they are 2" wide by 6" high. Hmmmmmm.

a book mark? no. we sell prints, they would be far too small for anything. and its doubtful people would pay the shipping for a poster made bookmark or understand that it is a bookmark. you wouldn't get much for it anyway. if you were to make it long and skinny and it was a large thing, that could sell, but probably not as a bookmark.

A bookmark is just a tiny panorama. I just checked one of my panorama shots and the dimensions of the smallest print are 8" x 1.88". The smallest size available is always 8 " x whatever, so a 6" bookmark is not possible and the prints all come with a large white border so your customers will have t do their own paper trimming. The base price of that size is $12.56...so with the shipping added in that gets to be a pretty pricey bookmark. Your target audience reads 1st edition, signed hardcover books with very expensive bookmarks.
The tiny panorama still looks like a pretty good price next to the 96" size.

Thanks for thoughts on the bookmarks. I will keep them at the gallery. I really need to go larger instead of smaller LOL but something about that empty white space intimidates me. This helps answer a few thoughts of mine.Happy Creating.

Maybe you should mat and frame the bookmarks yourself and sell them as wall art instead of creating a profit center for the local framer. This way you control the profit margin.

it doesn't have to be white, you an just sort of paint a swirl in there or made a fade of some kind. or just call it highkey or minimal. when i make something intended to be small, i always make it large so people can buy it in every form.

if you want to sell bookmarks you need to sell them at sites like etsy. it seems the reward is not equal to the time spent and more are reading from ebook than actual books so the market is getting slim.

Might work, Edward. I used to have a mat cutter. May need to invest as they would have to be special cut at the frame shop. I am just amazed that peeps are buying a little original bookmark (at $5.00) and putting quite a bit of money into mat and frame. I used to have a shop on Etsy, maybe time to put some energy there again, Alfred. Could sell them without the mat, hmmmmmm.
