Copyright Infringement And Related Resources For Artists

Hi folks! Since I've been battling copyright infringement (successfully, so far) for the last several months, I've put together some useful resources for artists. I thought I would give back to the community and share these resources for other artists going through some of the same headaches. Here is the link:

http://www.booksmithstudio.com/resources/artists/

On this page you will find the following resources:

A sample DMCA takedown notice you can easily modify and use.
How and where to report copyright infringement on popular marketplace sites like Amazon, Etsy, Alibaba/Aliexpress, Ebay, etc.
How to do a Reverse Image Search to locate copies of your artwork online.
Registered Copyright Agents’ contact information for major ISPs and marketplaces.
Plus several other resources on other topics I find useful such as avoiding scams aimed at artists, PayPal's seller protection policy limitations (for artists selling and shipping originals), etc.

I hope this is helpful to someone! Feel free to share, and if you know of other resources I should include here, please let me know. We artists need to stick together!

If you click on the camera in the search bar, you can paste a link to your image in the new search bar that appears. You can also upload an image to search. When you click search, any copies of your images that have been used should show up. It will also search similar images that may be your image that was modified.

You're welcome!

@Jesse, yes, I already have Google's image search listed on the link above along with instructions. If you have the Google Chrome browser you can also right-click on any image you find on the web and choose “Search Google for this image.” I also have a Firefox extension listed that does the same thing for Firefox users, and the TinEye.com website for an alternate place to do a reverse image search. There are many ways to do it these days!

Thanks for sharing this information, it is a great compilation of information. I always wondered how to do a reverse image search and your article clarified it. Unfortunately, I found my images in all kinds of unauthorized places.

I have a question for everyone here...is it only me that believes that selling Public Domain images through your site is not fair and unethical as an artist? I have seen a few artists on here that are doing just that and to me it just doesn't seem right....let me know what you think about that....

Hi Dwayne, you might want to start your own discussion thread for that topic. This discussion thread is about tools and resources to help artists battle copyright infringement and avoid scams. Just go to Discussions and click the "Post a New Topic" button.
