Because I feel he set an impossible goal of creating an artwork that was just about art with no reference to the real world, I am going to say Ad Reinhart as being over rated. Germaine Richier as being under rated, and Picasso as being just right.

Dali over rated.

Miro under rated.

Rembrandt and Picasso under rated.

Van Gogh just right. Sadly not during his life time.

Dij, I actually agree with you that da Vinci is way over rated.

He only had a few great important pieces. He was more of a creative inventor than a great
artist. His inventiveness is why people see him as a great master. I am not there with them.

I agree.

I dont like surrealism, so Dali, Magritte not much use for their flat styles.

Miro was one of the finest creatives of all time. Amazing works. Endlessly creative.

Rembrandt and Picasso for both skill and creativity intellectually were giants. We hear this, but
I think too few people outside of the arts are well acquainted with just how great they were.

Ok then, Germaine Richier was overshadowed by male artist of her time. She died in 1959 of cancer and was in her 50s. Check out her work if you get a chance. Picasso was mondo important and still is. He is recognized as being the most important artist of his time and rightly so!

I would place Michaelangelo over DaVinci so I would tend to agree with Digital on that one.

David did you know that Miro was a major surrealist?

Ron,

You can not be totally biased against a category.

I dont care for surrealism. But Miro was an extreme creative.

He worked existentialism well beyond what Dali or Magritte ever thought of doing. JMO

Miro was more than likely the more skilled artist of the three as well. Magritte's skill level is highly
questionable.....according to Magritte.

Dave

Edit Ron remember it boils down to the individual artist whether his work is well received. Miro
was very careful to see that he truly enthralled his audiences. Subtle as he could be at times.

PS Ron just found out Miro and Hitler have the same April 20 birthday. Hitler 1889, Miro 1893. Not good.
