What Is Your Favorite New Work You Created This Year?

I've been painting for a few years now and I think I may be settling into a style. This year I also began painting from my own photographs. I saw these two old friends sharing the afternoon sun on a bench in La Jolla. "La Jolla Flowers" is my favorite painting of 2014.

What is your favorite new work from this year?

Although I'm principally a photographer, I enjoy experimenting in Photoshop with some of my pencil drawings. I kind of like this one.....it was fun to make . It's hard to pick my favorite photo, since I do a lot of that, so I will pick this one as my favorite non-photographic art piece:

which was shot back in June of this year in North Carolina but because of the locomotive, station and railroad name, appears to have been shot in the 30s, 40s or 50s up north.

I am partial... this was a fabulous trip and I am sure that part of my choice was emotional memories from Portofino, Italy. Although, I currently have a metallic print of it in a group sow and the colors are even more rich in real life than that of my computer screen.

I want to post three paintings, but if I have to pick just one, it is this.

Hi Karyn - good to see you.
Although I have other favorite images that I would love to see hanging on my walls, I have to say that I had a blast working on my Sunflower Series - the results thrilled & surprised me.

I feel bad leaving out some others in my gallery, and this probably won't win anyone over, but I'm still amazed that I drew this..

I can't really select a favorite but I'm particularly fond of this one because I love science and science fiction, as well as fantasy. It's a combination of photography and graphics processing via Photoshop...

Wow! This thread has some amazing artwork on it! Good idea, Karyn!

I'm having a difficult time picking, so I'll go with Jim's approach. My most recent:

That's the only new art piece I managed to create this year. The day job eats up too much of my time and energy.

All of my favorites are in my abstracts gallery, but this piece got the best reception, I think. I prefer doing creative photography (for lack of a better term) rather than locations, sunsets or landscapes, although those are challenging and I will continue to strive to capture "the one" (and since those aren't my thing, I'll stop there). I never knew that capturing a landscape successfully could be so darned hard, lol.

Beautiful work, everyone! So good to see what success you've all experienced in 2014. Here's hoping 2015 will be just as good.

Love to all...

Aside from some photos of my grand-daughter that I just love but don't offer here at FAA, I took a couple of bucket list trips - one to the Palouse country in southeastern Washington and the other to New Mexico for the Balloon Fiesta and both a sunrise and a sunset shoot at White Sands. From the latter, this is right at the top of my "Favorites of 2014" list.

Coming face to face with a 13 foot American Alligator at night in the Florida Everglades gave me my favorite
photo of the year. A flash and a dimmable LED light helped illuminate this beautiful creature.

There is not the one favorite work - but I'm back into black and white photograpy and I love it! This is one example, fascinating geyser Strokkur in Iceland:

geez, one pick is difficult. My capture of the crow on the wire is technically not the detail I would've liked, either from my lack of skill or the fact I shoot with a bridge camera (gasp), hey, you gotta work with what you have! I like what I created from it artistically and the storyline I gave it. Particularly since the crow was on a wire over a fast food restaurant in the middle of the day :o)

What spell is this? Something is amiss. The world is being held in twilight and magic shimmers in the air...

It's like my children asking me who is my favorite.. ^_^ I love them all soooooo much and have enough place in my heart for all and each of them ;-)

as a multi media user ( digital and traditionnal) I would choose one in each category...this year I didn't upload a lot... :-)

I started playing by taking some of my acrylic paintings and exploring them in different ways using Photoshop. I have been pleased with the results - which to pick? This one is my favourite, not least as purple is my favourite colour!

Here is mine. I spent a lot of time in the Connecticut River Valley around Essex, Old Saybrook, East Haddam and Westbrook this summer. Helping my parents clean out their house to move to Florida. On my trips down I stole away to do some exploring of the area especially where the Essex Steam Train route went. I discovered Pratt Cove and created this image.

I'm picking this one because I don't often get a chance to see my work printed out. I printed this one out on a Epson 2000 at the local art gallery and I was so happy with the result. It looked stunning.
