Buying A Digital Camera: Part 1. Flickr??

So now Flickr is telling us how to buy a camera, which I guess could be good PR for them. This is Part 1, so future posts for this I will consolidate to my general Flickr Thread: http://pixels.com/showmessages.php?messageid=1874455

I just stopped my flickr pro account. The price went up, and I can still post lots of stuff there free, since the stats stopped showing anything but flickr searches, it has nothing to offer. Even mt once active groups are circling the drain.

I don't need someone that screwed up a really great site to tell me how to buy a camera.

I'm sad, I've lived flickr for years

Thats good if people want info on buying cameras. Don't forget, we all had to start somewhere.

Just wanted to add that you can get stats on different cameras within Flickr by putting the model number in the search field, It will bring up stats on that cameras standing and which models in that camera family are used most, It will also bring up photos taken with that camera. For example the Sony Experian smart phone camera was number one in terms of number of photos uploaded to Flickr. Also if you have a favorite photographer on the site you can check the images to determine what camera they use and the settings used for a particular image.

Here is the link . Its under the topic explore and the tab "camera finder"

Melany -- if you had the pro before the price increase in May of 2013 then you're pro fee is grandfathered to $25.00/Year. Stats, well, I don't know what I do without Flickr stats!! I get way more views there and here on FAA as Yahoo is promoting picture search ..... so like Flickr is for pictures what YouTube is for video.

Flickr is changing and for the better in due time. They really are giving it the attention it has needed and seem to be listening to members ( who they call photographers ). This post about what camera to buy only shows how they are trying to differentiate with value.
