Now 100% Faa

I dropped my other POD site because it just didn't sell. I am now pointing all my websites to Fine Art America. All the business cards and brochures I passed out and will pass out give the website http://www.haldanecreativeart.com and now, thanks to the changes Sean made, they all come here.

All the marketing I have done and will do will be focussed on this site and this site alone (for web based POD sales).

I am hoping for a very productive 2015.

Now all we need is a few more products. (hint, hint)

Good luck with your strategy. My only comment is not to wish for things or wait. If you want to sell products then find a site that sells products. FAA excels in selling wall art which has a nice profit margin. That's were one should focus their energy - high profit margin.

I sincerely hope this works for you John.

I am slowly but surely moving towards the same goal. I closed down two of my other sites and abut to close another one in the next week or so.

After Christmas I will be evaluating the others.

I still have my other POD sites John, I find that a lot of the traffic comes to Faa from these sites because I tell them that my Complete gallery can be seen here and also they can get larger prints of my works here compared to Saatchi which only do about 3 different sizes of my work.
The more hooks in the water the better the chance of catching something.

Good for you. If it works for you, great. I can't do it because I sell good on the other sites too. Plus, I don't believe in having all your eggs in one basket.

If a site costs $140 a year and you make $2 in the year, I suggest not keeping it. :)

Also, FAA is so much easier than most sites to make a purchase. The options are clear, the prices are clear, and placing an order is a snap. Some sites requires many clicks just to find an option to buy; that discourages purchases.

I dropped Cafe Press after several years because they made changes that ruined the experience and all but eliminated profits. I have not gone back to Zazzle yet, but may in 2015.

I point people to my urls at sites like Flickr, ViewBug, StumbleUpon, Pintrest, Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others - that will now send them all here.

I do think that one site for selling is better than several from the standpoint of not confusing the consumer. I also understand that many sites may mean more hits which may lead to more sales.

Many sites also give you many listings on a google search....in the eyes of the average customer, I'd venture a guess that increased visability equates with credibility.

As my financial ad visor would say - a diversified portfolio is best. Helps to easy out the ups and downs. For example I've been in this card storm lately. Suddenly all I'm selling here is cards. Hopefully its just a fluke and my print sales will recover but who knows what is causing it.

I shall gladly report back next year at this time to let you know if sales increased or not. :)

I keep a few accounts open as a test and also for cheaper international shipping. I don't get sales but I don't promote it either. I am about ready to close some. One problem I have is I cannot get my web address to show on the AW site. I am kind of still annoyed the that the change came at the absolute busiest time for me and I have given up trying to get it to work right. I had redirected my Bradmartinphotos.com to my AW some time ago and I tried to do it the new FAA way so my address shows but I have had not had success.

@Bradford - my url does not show in the bar at the top, either - it still displays http://john-haldane.artistwebsites.com/index.html - not what I prefer, but maybe Sean will fix it. Otherwise, everything seems to be working. The display is not nearly as nice as some other sites but navigation is easy.

Must say you are a very courageous man!! here, where the search never, ever rotates. You must either be one of the favored or just go for pot luck.

anyways, good luck!

All my marketing leads to my personal url. From there I direct it to the fulfillment site that brings me the most return. Right now that is FAA/Pixels but it could change.

,,,

You know how Apple does it. They release a product and sell it at various sales channels. The price is fixed to they let the vendors battle it out on things like service, shipping, return policy, incentives, add on features, selection, store experience, ease of buying etc.

I love it here - I'd really like to make this my only sales site but unfortunately I sell 99% of my prints elsewhere up to now. We'll see if I can get things going here as time goes on.

"I've been in this card storm lately"

With me it has been cell phone covers. Eight in the last week or so. One guy bought a cell phone cover, a framed print and a note card of the same image. I think he liked the image. lol

Stocking stuffers I guess.

For those who can not get their domain names redirected, I had to call GoDaddy. I did not go it alone. I had
to go though the process twice. It did not take the first time.

I have two domains, Bridburg.com and DavidBridburg.com. I plan on putting my DavidBridburg.com on
my own website by February next year. Bridburg.com will remain my AW domain.

There are a lot of pros and cons in this thread. Everyone's situation is different.

I have only had one sale,so there is no testing to know what works in my case.

But I would rather feed Pinterest longer term than worry about a second POD site with
lower margins for me the artist than FAA's margins. I also dont want the confusion for
the customers or myself.

I have a three year plan. My art is very specifically mine. That means till I have more of a name
it might not sell. I need a much larger portfolio to sell.

As much time as I spend on FAA, I can't imagine opening a second POD at this point.

Good luck John. I only use FAA and local marketing for my landscapes, etc (such as craft shows, etc). I'd like to use more sites to sell my art, but FAA is all I have time for (I have 4 jobs on top of being a mom, etc). I know I should join more social media sites but for now I market FAA on Twitter and Facebook. Most of my photography success has been with my portrait photography. I use Facebook to advertise that section of my business.

I should probably get into card a little more and add some text to a few of my photos. Seems to be the selling trend right now along with cell phone covers. I agree with Edward when he said you need a "diversified portfolio".

Toby! I know what you mean. I sell through the GI and my own home-page for approx. $. 105000 per year! this could NEVER me my site. Its just restricted to a certain few who " like to think themselves" as true artists. Hehe. as if that wasn't enough I do my own POD for approx. $. 40000 per year., All of it hangs in the receptions of giant industrial corporations.
