Does Anyone Look At All The New Uploads?

and if you do - do you just scan the thumbnails - do you pick out interesting ones to look at larger - and then do you like, favorite or comment on some of them - or is it really just a "dumping ground" that's taking up space here in the FAA discussion threads?
(I know - lot's of run on sentencing)!

recently I started checking them out and leaving comments without uploading anything new myself, that is unusual and for the most part I would say I DON'T check them out unless they're the images that were uploaded near mine..

I was just wondering

I used to look at them a lot more than I do these days. I always liked looking at the new art, commenting on the ones I found interesting- meeting new people. But these days the images are so stacked and repetitious it isn't interesting any more. If fact every page is so stacked its hard to find new art anywhere here anymore.

Oops- sorry I thought we were speaking of the new uploads page. I do view and comment on art I find on the "new art" threads when I have time to and think the subject matter may be interesting.

i never have once opened one of those threads. i don't see the point and can't see a buyer rummaging through the endless amount of uploads.

When I first joined, way back in 2009, I did. But stopped viewing them about 3 years ago.

"or is it really just a "dumping ground" that's taking up space here in the FAA discussion threads?"

That's accurate. I avoid them at all costs and consider the openers of such threads rude rude and double rude. This is a discussion forum.

I don't use them and i don't look at them. I do occasionally look at the new uploads on the first page. And not just the ones at the top.

I think they may have some usefulness in helping the search bots find out how to index them, but only if you put in the alt, title tags and a few words about the image.

If you mean the image threads here ... only if I have time or inclination, but usually, no. I did participate for a while, and I did go in and comment on a few that caught my eye. But in terms of time spent on the site, it's probably at the bottom of my priority list.

If you are talking about the "Today's New Uploads" on the home page of FAA, I check that whenever I upload a new piece. I just like to see how mine appears to viewers checking out that page. Found some amazing work by other artists that way.

I do sometimes when I have a chance to upload a few new images. It has brought a few new views in that wouldn't happen otherwise. I don't do it because I think buyers will find them, but other artists sometimes will see something in the thread and visit. I will also scan and visit a few images myself. The threads do get a bit too long though. Maybe should start over with a new one each week if they don't already or top off and restart when the images hit around 100. I don't see it hurts anything, it's not like there isn't enough room in the forums for both image threads and discussions...geesh.

There have been 129,424 pieces of art uploaded here since November 1st. You would have to look at a new piece of art every 7.5 seconds for 12 hours every day to see them all.

I doubt buyers look at ANY of the discussion threads - seems hardly any reason for any of them to be "private discussion". so the discussion threads are really for artist/photographer/members, and perhaps a way to get visitors, likes and favs - which supposedly help in the search (although I personally doubt it).

What's really wonderful - is all the negativity from the same folks on any, even tiny efforts of members to help each other - although quick to judge another's work with their opinions.

If you are talking about "today's uploads", never.
There's so much in the drop downs from those 6 tabs on top, it's like an unweeded garden to me.

If you are talking about the new upload thread, I only go there to dump my new work....cuz, afterall, that's what it is.

Yes, I go there often.
And I'm with what Roy said 2 posts above :-)

I use this discussion page whenever I upload an image, and I always make it a point to start at the top and work my way down, (not the ones in the big skip) and view all the thumbnails. I click on and view at least 5 of the images, and comment and like/fave a couple. (there are always some on here that I really like.) Then again I do have lots of time on my hands. Can't sleep and am always up and on this site at 4am. Les

Sean said in another thread that only members look at the latest uploads page

Beth, I think Roy is talking about his "new uploads" thread http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2202695 (not about Today's new uploads - http://fineartamerica.com/newartwork.html )
Are you talking about the same?

Abbie Shores

Oh.... Duh

Christine, I took it as his "new uploads" discussion page http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2202695. I didn't even know the other one existed. LOL Les

IF you don't look at other artist/photographers work and like, comment, or fav - why would you expect others to look at yours?

Let me count the ways:

-- "New Artwork from Your Watchlist Members" is emailed to me -- and every member -- every week.

-- Relevant artwork in a discussion is always seen and appreciated.

-- Semi-fresh art is always a click away on the FAA front page.

-- Just logging in takes everyone to the recently sold page.

-- It's impossible to miss the FAA mega-menus on every FAA page (including the discussions) with links to art.

-- For the desperate, there's always the Search Box.

There's no good reason to spam the discussion board. Obviously some think there is, I'm not one of those :-)

Christine, that's still hilarious! And, if you'll notice, it wasn't -- nor did it turn into -- an image dump thread.

I think RD needs to be specific on what he's talking about in THIS thread. Maybe we aren't getting it and are responding with all the wrong things.
