What Type Of Music Inspires You?

I can sometimes get burned out listening to music so I was wondering what type of music inspires you? I'll try my best to give all suggestions a listen.

Right now I'm on a Linkin Park and Elvis binge. Weird combo I know, but inspiring. :)

Hello darkness my old friend….. I remember that song.

For me it varies depending on the media I am working with. Mostly classical, but KONGOS works for me too. Indie alternative.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes it's Tangerine Dream, sometimes Alan Parsons, sometimes the Beatles. Yes, or Kansas. Other times it's Chic Corea, Joe Pass, Jean Luc Ponty, or Thelonius Monk . Bebop jazz, hard rock, progressive rock, electronica. That's where my tastes float.

A guitarist who goes by the name Plini, he is the best on YT.. Also, those 4 hour epic instrumental videos, the older Gregorian chant, spaghetti western soundtracks, movie soundtracks like Gladiator, video game soundtracks like Skyrim are also nice, classical such as Vilvaldi or Bach, Neo Classical Yngwie Malmsteen... I just find youtube to have the largest collection of several hour long videos where you don't have to keep clicking and searching for new tracks..

Also I'm with Chuck on Chic Corea, prog rock, and sometimes Beatles.

I pretty much only listen to music while driving, and since I found the channels "70's on 7" and "Classic Vinyl" on Sirius Radio, it's all I listen to, going back and forth between them. Occasionally I'll switch it over to the country station. I let my subscription lapse for quite a while, until I remembered how many commercials there are compared to the amount of music they actually [don't] play on regular radio.

When I make pencil drawings, I listen to my favorite classic movies. Not the just the music tracks but the entire movie. I can't listen to music while drawing. It's too distracting.

When I edit my photos, I listen to my favorite crooners. I'm very moody (I've been told) and sometimes I'm feeling overwhelmed by the "task" at hand and
I find listening to Sinatra,Sammy,Haymes,Como,Bennett,Armstrong,Cole,Torme and Elvis and even Tom Jones puts me at ease. I don't smoke or take any drugs so I need something to
relax me so I can focus on my work. And wine puts me to sleep. :-)

I love John Williams and the Boston Pops since I was about 10 years old
Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays
Aaron Copland
Benny Goodman
Glenn Miller and pretty much all Big Band swing & sweet
Movie soundtracks: too many to list.

I do listen to all "classic" rock while driving but not when creating art. It's too distracting.
Lately, I put on my headphones but forget to click play and three hours later realize I'm not hearing any music! LOL ....age related?

When I create aviation art I listen to my favorite aviation movies or Sinatra.
When I create landscapes I listen to the movies - The Cowboys, Ansel Adams story, The Impressionists A&E, The Good-the Bad-the Ugly, 1941, Glory...it's all over the map. ;-)

It took me many years to finely tune my collection of "inspiration" music. LOL!

Music and Art - like Mac & Cheese!

Anything from music you hear in a yoga class to the Sex Pistols. Lately it's A Man Called Adam and Pixies!

While making WW2 art I sometimes like to listen to Russian and German marching music from the time period, it's pretty crazy but it sets up the mood to draw images from that era very nicely.

Yay Elvis good choice Lauren, I'm on a bit of a relaxing mood at the moment when drawing, mostly smooth jazz, Norman Brown, Boney James, also like some movie themes and Western themes work really well drawing my Western theme work. No loud music here...takes away the concentration :)

At the moment I'm listening to a mix of Angels & Airwaves and Roberto Cacciapaglia, with a bit of Paramore thrown in.

Music doesn't inspire me - unless it's the sound of nature - humming and singing along.
