Possible Client

I received an email from a possible future client. He wants to make a website with some of my images. He's not sure if I was selling my digital prints or willing to donate some of my work for credit on his website. What do you think I should do?

I never donate for credit. I have bills.

Beyond that negotiate and see what comes if it.

many want the images for free or next to nothing. you won't get too much credit even if its just a link. it's up to you how you want to deal with it. whatever you choose, don't give them a very large image. and make sure you sign it. and there is a contract outlining what is allowed to be done with it.

unless he's got a tremenedous following on an established website, the credit isn't worth the time it takes to give it to you....and even then.
get paid.

Only credit worth while is a credit card.

Yes, I'm still talking with the client. I did tell him I'm not willing to donate and sounds like he might purchase the print. I'll let you know the outcome.

Just make sure he doesn't think that buying a print, or worse, a card, entitles him to use the image on his website.

yeah i was about to say don't let them scan it and use that as a background. many really do think it gives them a right to do what they want with it.

Sadly I get e-mails like this a lot. If there is not a win-win for me I walk away. I remember I too have bills to pay and children who are rather keen on shoes on their feet.

I never heard from the client, kinda strange.
