Emergency: Bob Johnston Is In The Hospital I Was Asked To Let You Know Do Not Send Images To The Groups Till Further Notice

Bob Johnston has asked me to pass along the message for him . He is in the hospital and will be needing surgery. He has asked me to let the users know from all the groups that he and Nadine administer DO NOT SEND ANY IMAGES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. I tried to send messages via the groups to all users but because I am not an administrator the sites prevents me from sending multiple messages to many groups (spamming preventive parameters ) So I am not sure of how to go about this . As you lot of you know Bob and Nadine administer many groups . I am not sure of all the names of the groups and Bob is under heavy medications so I don't want to disrupt him with the matter. How ever I would hate for them to be stuck with the heavy loads of images waiting for them to be processed.
If somebody know of a way I can go about this to let all the users aware of this urgent matter I would greatly appreciate as Bob is counting on my help and would hate for him to have to worry about this. The groups I do belong that is under Bob administration are "All Fine
Art America Artwork" "Artists News' "Pin Me 1" "All Season Landscapes"

Please do not send me messages as I am only passing along his message for him. I do not know much more than this to the situation else that he will be in the hospital longer than expected due to the surgery and will need time to recuperate after the surgery . Thank you for you attention . I hope that lots of you will be reading this message.

Unfortunately, even if I put a message out, people would still add images

Wish him all the best. Tell him to just not worry about it!

I believe his wife has already done so via the groups they administer, but I suspect images will still get through due to the high number of groups folks belong to, etc.

Would be a good thing though if a lock or temp block of sorts could be placed by the admin in such cases.

An idea to forward to Sean?

Hope there's a speedy recovery, it sucks to be laid up.

yes, Nadine did send out a message outlining Bob's health emergency and asking people not to submit images to the groups until further notice.

I only belong to two of their groups and I am trying to remember, but I would just tell them to dump whatever is there when they get back. I belong to several groups for which the administrators have made a "do not submit" request for a period, usually because they were going to be traveling. When they get back, they just delete everything that's been submitted anyway. I'm not sure how long it takes to do this, but certainly much less time than it would take to "process" all the entries. If you have submitted an image to a group and an administrator "rejects" it (which is what I'm suggesting here), you can still resubmit. You just need to go to the image in your own member center and then to edit. Remove the check-mark for the group and submit. Now the image can be resubmitted to the same group if you think it's a perfect fit.

they have so many groups, that unless they close them or give them to someone else, we will keep entering things. i have no idea at all what groups are theirs, nor can i, or will i remember them.

that's why i wanted that - HOLD button, so it just removes itself from the list.

I'm in one of their groups -- I've already got notification through PM, so no need to send another one. Please don't send any more.

I suppose if you got a message - you'd know what groups - no message - perhaps you aren't in that group.

i got one piece of mail and it wasn't even hooked to a group. i know they took over quite a few groups and ran other groups. there is no way to know which ones are theirs.

Danielle----thank you for your efforts. I got a message also--from Nadine regarding Artist News. I really do not think you can send out messages to all the members at once without being the administrator. Hope he gets better soon. Keep us posted here if you hear anything. Thanks again.

Like Mike said, no way to remember them all. When we upload artwork it's normally the most appropriate time to add them to any Groups we may participate with. From a defensive position, it's really best if they temporarily closed all of their Groups to stop the uploads.

I don't even read the group emails, if I add an image to one of the "Just for Fun" contest I rarely if ever even have time to cast votes or check in.

I DO however wish Bob the very best!! My wishes for a speedy recovery :))
