been used in the uk for drinks & medicinal purposrs for ages, so can't see ehy it wouldn't grow there. maybe just rarer now?

you bought it and it didn't come with a tag identifying it?

Heather, it really is Fatsia Japonica - it is a very popular shrub here in the UK.

Don't know what it is but it's beautiful! :-D
