Anybody else notice this gradual, or in my case, not so gradual trend where the ONLY product that I'm selling, are the $5 and $9.95 cards? My last ten sales have ALL been this size and unless somebody behind the curtain is playing a game on me, can't figure this out.
How about you?

My last three where small pieces. One was a card. I'm more concerned that once again my sales have stopped. No sale for over a month.

Jani - same as me, a whole month went by, then finally got a 36" canvas sale a few days ago. That hasn't happened in I don't know how long... I was having regular sales til then.
I don't want to blame the collections thing coming to the forefront... but if the shoe fits...

i just sold a phone case if its anything and the last few were under 18 inches or so.

Not on my end. The past month I averaged $80/sale. The month before was $100 per sale. Historically that average has been $70/sale.
Two months hardly makes for a good sample size statistically speaking but it dies show my revenue per sale has not gone down recently.
It is worth noting my cards have an 11.50 markup and phone cases are 19.95.

Now, Christmas sales tend to be smaller historically but I get many more sales and there are still large prints thrown in.

So far so good, let's here from others, some of the bigger players,maybe.............

Someone mentioned something like this in one of the other threads a few weeks back.
I checked it out see if I could recognize any trend one way or the other.
Basically the per item average has not changed from month to month for me.

Yes, they do buy cards to frame them. I just received a photo from a customer this weekend who framed her card. She did a really cute display in her laundry area with it. I posted it on my blog here on FAA today. :)

Interesting thought - gifts probably tend to be smaller then what you might buy for your own home/office.

At shows and on Etsy people have been buying canvas 16+"... luckily sales have gone up at both those, making up for some lacking sales here.

maybe their buying stuff to bring over on thanksgiving and they don't have room in the car?

Louise,Arlene,
I'm happy with any sale, but if this is a trend, then that doesn't portend a good future. I'm not here to sell phone cases and 5x7's and most of the artists that are selling everyday aren't either. For me and many others, this is a business and the amount of time and effort we put in, should reflect "better" sales. If this begins to happen to the big sellers, then that is not a good thing. This isn't about the quantity of things sold, but the quality and value of things sold.
There are many sites available where an artist can sell images for pennies,

I think last month was my best month ever and next month looks like it will beat it. The cards sales seem to be just adding to the volume for me.

My last sales were also card sales. I've had more card sales this year than last year. Not sure if it means anything or is just a coincidence though.

I have had an increase in smaller prints but no decrease in the larger ones. Single note cards is about 2 percent of my sales (by orders). But I did have other smaller sizes sell in recent weeks.

I rarely seem to go with the trends...I sold giclees recently that were bigger than the originals canvases at 36"x36".
That said, I am planning on working smaller than ever for my originals....

Two boxes of cards (same buyer) and a phone case today.
Maybe shipping costs went up and people are going smaller? I don't know, hard to tell if there is a true trend or not. FAA headquarters would know.

current trend is - i'm not selling anything and everyone is attacking me... i guess people are hungry or i make people hungry, due to my convincing costume. on the plus side the few stat counter things i have does show a trend of people looking at things so hopefully soon. its so close to thanksgiving though so they may all be traveling.
the small thing might have to do with the wall space left over? homes are getting bigger but so are TV's and such.
i do know they are pushing Christmas hard everywhere.

Sold a card, a 20 inch print and a 48 inch print in the last few days. I had a little stretch of just cards and smaller sizes but that has bounced back recently to larger sizes.

sold another small thing. it may be they are just watching their budget before turkey day. and will be more generous after. everyone should get a xmas avatar on after, i really think it helps people remember they have to buy stuff for others.

Side note - TVs keep getting bigger but I'm not so sure about houses. Babyboomers starting to downsize and studies show new generations would rather live in cities rather than suburbs. Plus the cost of heating large homes and the downturn in the real estate market has show a lot of people that perhaps buying the biggest house possible isn't a surefire investment.

all the houses around me, they sell them, they tear them down and build giant monsters. one house down the block 1.1 mil, kind of large, 2 car garage, 6 bd, 5.5 bath. other houses have a 3 car garage. the houses are pretty large. who think think will buy it is a different thing.

In the last month or so I've sold two 36", two 14", one 10", and a card. Not really seeing a trend. I thought I would sell more cards than anything, and I've only sold one.

Slump seems to be over! Sold a 40x60 print today and also a smaller one! Hope this means everyone is getting bigger sales now!

I haven't experienced the trend toward smaller sizes, although today I sold an 8" print, which is the smallest (not counting cards) I've sold. Still pleased. November has been great so far.

i sold a larger one today so here's hoping.
as far as marketing tips, there are tons already posted in the forum. i know its a lame answer, but its a lot to type a second time.
i don't want to side track the thread any and you should post a thing in the forum but
you have no usable tags in this. at least add mexico and the like.

Another card for me today. I'm hoping its just an indication of an overall increase in volume on the site.

My sales are way down from last year and I am marketing more than ever. Interesting that I am selling on Zazzle but their prices are so high that you don't make too much per sale. I have sold a lot of phone cas there but not one on FAA/pixels. Thinking of looking for another POD site.
