someone just emailed me about a guy who took one of mine. i reported it. oddly there were no tags, and it was an odd thing to take.

Thank you Marlene and Jenny. I did write to tech support but I wanted Abbie to find it quick seeing as my watermark and signature is gone. It's SO weird I cannot imagine what the person is thinking ! I mean, doing that on the SAME site and thinking no one would notice!

Jane, what the person was thinking is there are millions upon millions of images on this site...what are the chances?

First I would like to say... sorry to hear about this. It's not what anyone expects for FAA members...

2nd... about your comment. A thought just came to me... could the weird happenings be mystery shoppers from other POD sites? Just to see how FAA would react.... you know, if it's not caught or dealt with, then more thieves with start to show up.... down the road, like trolls... I don't know just a thought.

watermarks don't protect anything. in my case - even without the mark, he cropped it really tight. he didn't even use the full size thumb we use here.


kind of stupid to upload it to the site we are on already though... you know?

They must think its easy to sell artwork. lol

I have a question, how do people track down these offenders? And is there something more that can be done then just reporting them to FAA? I know about the reverse image search, but how can you constantly police that if you have any number of images? Does FAA just take down the reporting artist's works or all the infringing works? I realize even closing their account means they'd just pop up under a new name, but if we're not allowed to shame violators or warn victims, how do we manage this problem? A security system that just relies on strong locks but has no issues with people testing those locks will eventually overrun anything. We're doing nothing towards stopping or catching people that do this. It's bad now, what will it be in the future where offenders outnumber artist?

Oh thank god it was removed. I hope artists look out for one another and I would hope someone would alert me if they saw something fishy.

the guy that contacted me said he was just looking at the new people and happened to see items that didn't quite go together and snooped around. otherwise this guy would be invisible, because he has no tags and a $121 for a card? sure, right. i guess eventually i would have found it. i do wonder why he didn't steal one of my better pieces


EDIT erased the image to protect the thief. it was a happy face in case anyone was wondering.

of all the things - why this? i sold it once. i made it on a fluke, that's why its off center.

i think i tossed this one in a contest recently, they must have saw it there or something. on the plus side he liked it enough to steal it.

Well,I think Mike Savad is very astute ! Not a lot gets past you Mike ! Thanks for sharing what you feel is going on behind the scenes privately in this surreal case.I happen to agree with you but cannot share those thoughts openly on here. I like that smiley face by the way !

i found at least 2 more, i sent the artists a note.

its nice how they coupled my happy face, a class master, with the other masters - renoir, and a bunch of others. my work was inspired by DaVinci's mona lisa. that's probably why he chose it.

Mike, remove the image as that immediately has shown who the other member is and thats now name and shame

As the initial post was reported properly and the image reported, removed, I am closing this as it is now heading along the wrong lines and will break into the rules
