Limited Time Promotion - Don't Work?

hi all,

Have any of you ever sold anything due to limited promotions? I think they are too hidden on the site.

I've done a few and gotten no sales from it.

No. But two times a picture was sold (in another format) as print some days after a limited time promo. Could be lucky coincidence...

It's not a shoo-in that you'd sell a LTP just like a discount code does not automatically mean start counting the sales. I notice it's a little easier to find on the new AW sites, but the onus is still on us to market the LTPs and discount codes and make our own sales.

What do you mean hidden on the site? The Limited Time Promotion's are for you to present to your following. You develop a following/fan base and then use it to get people off the fence.

Just creating a random promotion and then sitting back and waiting for the sales to pour in ain't gonna work.

I tried to have three running at all times. I have promoted the bejeezuz out of them and I have just put them up and ignored them.

I have never sold one.

Some people have reported they have sold a few. Not sure I have ever seen anyone that was doing hand springs over the results they have gotten.

I have pretty my come to the conclusion that I can use my time better doing something else.

But it is free so there is no damage done to keep running them you inclined.

What I would like to see is any automatic renewal. But that would not keep the images fresh and kind of compromise the term of Limited. Maybe they should auto renew and just be called Special Promotions or something like that.

A tab on the artists profile wouldn't hurt either. On theother hand, I do "press releases" and send then out via FB and Twitter and hardly get any results.

I did when they weren't hidden and the link was at the top - haven't since that changed.

I have sold there, but as you said it is hidden now and hard to find.

I've sold about 10 of them and it's usually with a markup of around $100 on the 24*36.

Like selling in general on FAA, I've found giving stuff away doesn't increase sales and even with that markup they are still a lot cheaper than retail.

People might be motivated to purchase if they already had their eye on that particular piece. But otherwise people don't buy art that they will live with for years based on what's cheap.

I've tried a few LTP and no sales. I'm a believer that art is price inelastic for the most part. There is just way too much art in every genre that are that are being given away.

IMO in order for LTP to work than it needs to pop up in your buyers face when they visit your site. If you're going to buy art than your not going to look for promotions on art, you're going to look for the art. Then if there's a promotion running that puts you higher in the buys mind as truly is a lucky find.

Another issue is the short time. By time shows up on the almost hidden LTP page here, than you're out of time and the page is full of expired offers.

Until I have time to write a popup of my LTP on my business site (non FAA) than think LTP are a waste of time.
