Trying To Sponsor A Page

I'm new and still uploading art. I successfully sponsored a page. Now I want to sponsor a 2nd and I cannot. After I have pasted the new page address into the Sponsorship search dialog box and press enter, I receive always this reply: "OOps. There are no images on this page that you can sponsor." (Not the exact words.) Obviously there is a rule I am not following: can you tell me what it might be? I want to paste this second page onto a new bulletin board on my Pinterest site. I have only a few blogs on the internet and only the FAA website for premium members.

first you have to have the word you want to sponsor and that image has to be here for 24 hours so the search can find it. then you can use it. so upload what you have then do the sponsoring.

I am also trying to sponsor a page. I just uploaded two images to my website in a new folder that I just created today. I have pasted the link into my website and then pasted the url to where I had put the link. No luck. FAA's message says that I may have pasted the link wrong (yet, when I click on the link in the FAA window, it takes me directly to my link!). If it takes 24 hours, why doesn't FAA put that in their instructions?

I may be misunderstanding what you are trying to do... But if you are trying to get in on line three for a certain search parameter, (I'll have to go with that since I don't know of another case you may be referring to).

First you have to upload and keyword your images (do nice long descriptions while you are at it) Then after the system catalogs all these images you will be able to get your images to show up on line three... Now the way this works. The search parameter is... lets say is "New England beaches" Well that has to be a keyword in one or more of the images you have uploaded.

Second presuming that the system recognises that you have that keyword for the page it will give you a link that you have to post to an external website such as your blog. It will not work with Facebook or other social media but if you get that to work let us know.

Here is an example of a blog that I own. http://www.netravelblog.com/2008/05/rockport-color/ If you go to the bottom of the blog you will see several FAA links. I just clicked on one of the links and it brought me back to FAA and a search parameter of color photos. I looked at line three and in my search I saw three out of four of my images pop up there. It's working.

Third, You link has to be active (in place) for as long as you want to be found on line three.

No, that's correct. I am attempting to get FAA to recognize that I HAVE pasted their link into my website (I use SmugMug) so that they can allow me to sponsor a page on the third line of the section I've chosen. I've done this before on my site, but, I didn't recall having to have my images up for 24 hours first.

Here is a link to my page on my website where I've pasted FAA's url: http://www.evokingimages.com/Images/O-R-E-G-O-N/

I just tried it again on an image that's been on my SmugMug site for months now - same error message. Warnings:We could not find the link on the page that you provided: http://www.evokingimages.com/Images/IPhone-Photography/ Please double-check the page to make sure that the link is present.

It's saying that you haven't pasted the html link on you smugmug site. You have to both be using the keyword as a tag on your image in FAA and then paste the generated link on the blog page. Then you finally paste the blog page location (the above link) into the sponsor page form.

It sounds like your not posting the generated link on your blog.

But, I AM pasting the link on my website. In fact, it points directly to it in the link that FAA is claiming it didn't get. I really don't understand this "glitch". My keywords are on both sites and are the same. Hmm.

Smugmug may be using frames or flash. Neither work with sponsorship as the links are only being shown on your page. However, they are not actually on it but are being called from somewhere else.

I went to the blog page and didn't see the links. If it's been pasted correctly there would be a clickable link back to the search on FAA.

I went to my website without being logged in - www.evokingimages.com - and, to the section where I put the links: http://www.evokingimages.com/Images/O-R-E-G-O-N/ (wish I could include a screen shot here). The links are there, in several places, including in the description of the section as well as on two of the images.

I will contact SmugMug about this, as it seems that since their upgrade there may be something blocking it. I will also contact FineArtAmerica's "help" by contacting them.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Isabella,

This is the link to the page where I have pasted the code:

http://www.evokingimages.com/Images/O-R-E-G-O-N/

I also pasted it within the image page for these images:

http://www.evokingimages.com/Images/O-R-E-G-O-N/i-23bc3vn/A

AND

http://www.evokingimages.com/Images/O-R-E-G-O-N/i-CB6DQz2/A

I have checked my page while logged in as well as logged out (public viewing). I'm definitely seeing those "oregon photos" links.

I'm not getting how you can sponsor the same keyword on different blog pages? What page did you give the FAA yellow setup window for where you placed the link?

Also are you using any filters? This would affect the links generated. If you sponsor the word 'flower' when your filter is set to photography the link generated will be only if someone is searching in that medium for that keyword.

I have had my website with SmugMug since 2007 and have sponsored other pages. I am very confused as to why it isn't working now.

Response to my trouble ticket:

"The link on your page looks like this: (pasted some code that doesn't translate here without disappearing). That is not correct"

Abie

(I need a bit more to go on than that brief response).

The link that you paste on your blog site will be in the format of :
a href= "http://pixels.com/art/all/coffee/all" style="font: 10pt arial; text-decoration: underline;">coffee art

In this case the keyword 'coffee' on pixel with no filters.

It's generated by the sponsor window and should just be a simple cut and paste of the top code onto your blog, and typing the blog url you pasted to in the bottom of the sponsor window.

FAA is either not finding the link on your blog or your link is not right. So triple check for typos. Has anyone else said anything about problems sponsoring links on smugmug. Definitely the page sponsorship works so must be like Abbie said and have something to do with frames and script issues and you'll have to find a different sponsor site.

I copied and pasted the exact script in the popup window from FAA. It DID generate the link on my SmugMug page, and, I could see it and click through to the sponsored page whether I was logged into my account or not. However, for some reason FAA is not detecting it. That surprises me, because I have no problems viewing it whether I am logged in or not.

Meanwhile, I have removed the link and have thrown up my hands with this for the time. I've spent too much time on it already, and, am not thrilled with the response I got from FAA when I submitted a trouble ticket.

Thanks for trying!

Could it be that smugmug doesn't want to be wasting their bandwidth on advertising for competitor sites? We have a general rule around here against promoting other printing services, I doubt we're the only POD with that viewpoint.

They changed the link with lots of extras slashes. No idea why but yes, that would make perfect sense. We dont like it either

It happens immediately. I have done bunches is seconds. So you have to handing the wrong url to the FAA checker. You just have to hand the url at the top of the blog page. As I posted above http://www.netravelblog.com/2008/05/rockport-color/ checks out with the FAA checker and I put the max on this on page.

The links went up in ten minutes or so.. Still not sure what you might be doing wrong...

Trying to sponsor and it's not working. Source code matches perfectly, all links work, so really confused on what is wrong? Check the code yourself at http://flyingturkey.smugmug.com/About - tried three different ones to be sure.

Appreciate any and all help. I'm new to this whole thing so keep that in mind. Thanks!

is this because I am using wix? possibly because when you click on the link it opens inside my webpage instead of redirecting you to a new page. is there a fix? I don't see an option on wix to set the link to open in a new page
