Welcome To Our Family.
The rules? No rules; just an expectation that we all "do unto others." In other words, if you want others to promote your work, you should do the same for them. Those of us who take a full part in promoting ourselves and others try to do so for a 24 hour period or longer if possible. That includes opening the Big Skip and promoting the images in there too.
GENERAL INFORMATION AND HOW WE DO THINGS HERE:
Please use the URL for your image postings, rather than the copy and paste code. Posting the photo itself, rather than a link will make it difficult for people who don't have high speed internet, as well it might cause people to skip over your post without promoting.
Only 1 image is allowed per day, both in this discussion and in the group.
There is NO contest vote solicitation allowed on the discussion boards.
If you are posting nudes, or other questionable images, please post a warning notice with your link. There are children here, as well as adults who choose not to look at that type of image.
Please do not post links from your pixels.com account or any other FAA mirror site. It tends to create problems for some people and most will skip those links.
ABSOLUTELY NO images of nudity, death, cruelty or violence of any kind on the main board, where you have no ability to post a warning.
Finally, JUST HAVE FUN!! This is an incredible group of people who will make you feel welcome from your first post!!
TO ALL NEWCOMERS: I realize that some of you are so new to not only the group, but to FAA, that I thought perhaps a little clarification is in order. I'm sure you've noticed that while we can't require anyone to vote/like anyone elses work, we do tend to treat people the way people treat others. But I also realized that you may not have a clue what we're talking about, so........... to "like" someone's work, you click on their blue link, which opens up that particular piece. In the upper right corner, you'll see a few little icons. One is a thumbs up, which is what you press to "like/vote" for that piece of art. Most of us here press that whether we love the work or not. It's how we help each other to move up in the FAA search standings (even though FAA now says it doesn't count for very much, but that's now past history and it is what it is). That's all we ask of you. Should you choose to do so however, you can also click on the little heart (which is to add a work to your own "favorites" list), and you'll also find buttons for the various social media sites if the artist chooses to activate any or all of those buttons. These are the ways we promote each other. You may also choose to vote/like your own submissions. It's perfectly acceptable to do so.

Running late today. Had to take the kids trick or treating downtown. I actually found some great places to start trying to get my photos in, so hopefully I can get something going!!

Hello 54!
Some nice looking new websites! I'm not even going to attempt until home from this trip.

Cindi – your page looks great. Can’t wait to play around with mine
Lins – I don’t know anything about a pancake lens, sorry. Looks like Jan gave you what you needed
Bill – congrat’s on the new quint record
SteRe – we already knew you were a writer, good luck with the blog
Terri – so sorry you are having trouble with the new website. I have not tried mine yet. Maybe tomorrow.
Denise – Awesome news about showing your work
CRS…………….mowed most of the day with the tractor. My property is looking good except where the power company has been in to work. They decided to that a 30 easement for new power poles and took down some huge old oak trees at the front of my property. Breaks my heart to see them gone. Power company still has to grind out the stumps and will be giving me replacement trees in Jan, as my property is designated as a tree farm.
Thoughts and prayers for all

Anxious to find time to play with the new AW site. Thanks everyone for all the tips on how to go about it. I have made a lot of bookmarks. Any suggestions about a domain name? I think I started out with Terry Fleckney Photography, but I realized I have morphed, and straight photography is really not my thing any more. I am having an identity crisis - I don't really know what to call myself! I want to keep it as simple as possible.
Went for a 5 mile hike today and now have blisters to show for it. Spent the evening soaking in the hot tub. Didn't get too many great pictures because I had my macro lens on and I hate changing it out in the rough. Tomorrow I will start out with my other lens (the kit lens), but I don't get great mountain shots with it either (yeah, I know about its not the lens, its the photographer behind it; I just prefer to blame the lens).
Your new digs look fantastic Anne!
Denise that is such great and well deserved news.
As a matter of fact, congratulations all around! We are a great bunch!

Lee - better day tomorrow!
Donna - hate that you lost those oaks!
Kim - thanks for the link with how to info....will come in handy when I make the move in that direction.
Had to cut the family circle drive short. We drove about 650 miles today and have another 460 or so tomorrow....all so I can report to jury duty bright and early Monday morning! Needless to say, my parents aren't happy that they were cut from our trip.....

Hi good peeps!
Everyone has so much news ... lots of interesting reading.
Thank you sincerely to everyone for the comments about our very short trip to the mountains and my health issue. Nothing serious but something that needed quick attention. Sucks when you're away from home and need a doctor. Everything is OK, so thanks again for all of the well wishes.
I'm totally lost about this new Artist's Website deal. Is this the Artist's website that you pay $30.00 a year for in addition to the pro account here at FAA? It isn't the free Artist's website that we all get that's linked to FAA, right? Seems like I'm the only one in this thread that doesn't have the *pay* artist's website. And I don't understand anything at all about the domain thingy like Jan was spending the evening working on. What is a domain and what does it do? If anyone in the thread has the time and and would be so kind, I would so appreciate a personal note to sort this all out. Sorry to be a pain. :((
Thank you Cindi for the tweet yesterday and link, although I didn't see my photo there. Guess they had already moved on. Thanks for letting me know though.
Congratulations to all with sales, commissions, contest wins, writing gigs, etc. So many great things happening in our group right now. WoooHooo! You all deserve every bit of success that comes your way.
For those still around ... have a great rest of the evening. See ya'll tomorrow. ♥

This is from today's hike. I wish I had a clue what it is, just a bush covered with neat fuzzy things.
