What Happened To All The Sculptures?

Would like to see some sculptures entered into my newest contest. The previous contest I had only one, which you can view at The Gallery . Paintings, drawings are great, but the sculptures, pottery, glass enhance the overall look of the gallery. The new contest is called Presentation of Artwork - The Galleries. Thanks.

i guess there aren't that many people that make sculptures and enter contests. usually many of them don't really invite that. you would have to contact them directly. i know barry does sculptures, he may not be able to reply though from my understanding. there are a few others, you can do a search then contact them.

Thanks Mike,

Had many contests in the past, and always had a lot of submissions. I will go through my old emails from here and ask. Thanks again.

I guess it is just there are not as many sculptors now a days as painters and photographers...

Is Dan Daugherty still around? He made sculptures. Also there is Roger Swezey, the man who does the vulture sculptures.

oh awesome Abbie, I forgot about Mark Mellon. I just went through my faves and found this man, Arian Konomis, he's got some great work. Anand Swaroop Manchiraju has some great whimsical sculptures in his galleries, too.

It is hard to be a sculptor because of the weight of your items, the cost of shipping them and the cost of materials, and space needed, specialized equipment. A lot of them stay on at university to take advantage of the studios there. My best friend in college was a sculptor and she could only paint at home. She worked in wax and bronze and found objects and did all that at school. They would have big parties when they had a bronze pour.

She used to loan her works out to people because they were big she had no room to store them. She was a hoot. She used to wear chaps at the bronze pours. I used to joke with her that I wanted to get her a T-shirt that said QUIKCRETE.

Hey Warren, I got your message. I'm glad you enjoyed my sculptures. Thank You!

I've been pretty busy, My Wife and I have moved to Michigan and that has taken a ton of my time. I have a new shop now about twice the size as my old one, but it has taken a lot of time for me to get it to the point where I can create some pieces. I still have a ways to go before it's user friendly and winter is quickly approaching, something I didn't have to concern myself about in Phoenix AZ.

I entered one of my pieces into "Artprize" and that took a ton of time. Something I may not do again as only Huge sculptures were even noticed by the juries and public. I did get some pretty good reviews and a local Bank has asked to display it for the next 8 weeks. I even got a request for a commission, but they wanted something similar to "Rise Up" on a budget of $450. Not gonna happen. And that is the biggest reason I have not been on FAA for a while. No one here is looking for sculptures, and most have no idea what kind of time and work goes into one.

I do miss the awesome people I met here, but I have a Website I have been trying to keep up with and between that, two German Shepherds and getting my shop together I have barely any time.

I'll check out your links when I have time. I am on a Capped Internet connection now because I am Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in the country... Best place I have ever lived in my entire life!! If Anyone is out near Blood Rd. in Metamora Michigan, Look me up. (yep, you read that right..Blood Rd.... there's even a You tube Video on it).

Here's a link to our new home...https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10205069840294811&set=a.3130155181968.2154770.1507395611&type=1&theater

I'll be back around sooner or later... Great to hear from you!!
