A Nice Surprise
I entered my "Painted Lady" into my first juried art show a couple of weeks ago, and I got word last week that it was accepted. The gallery sent me a pdf file with my artwork on a postcard to mail out to friends, family, fans, etc. announcing the show. On the back it lists my name and the name of the piece. I thought, 'Oh, that's nice that they make postcards for everyone with their artwork on it.' Then yesterday my husband mentioned that my artwork was the gallery's cover page photo on Facebook, and when I went to drop off the canvas at the gallery later on that day, the first thing I saw when I entered was my picture in a poster frame. Apparently they don't make individual postcard announcements for all the artists, they will all be sending postcards with my artwork to their networks of admirers instead. The gallery has also posted it at other local businesses downtown with my name clearly displayed below the picture on the poster. I was not expecting that from my very first show, but it was definitely a welcome surprise!
