Under Exposed Foreground On Metal Print.

The farm my husband works on ordered a photo of their tomato harvest and the large metal print came and though it is beautiful with the sunset, the tractor and tomato trailer and the green field in the foreground are way darker than it shows on my faa website photo. This seems to happen quite often with other labs also. Why does the print come back with a darker foreground than my own adjustments and from what is seen on my website. I hope someone can answer this for me. I was greatly disappointed in the print and it is a large metal print. It still pretty, but I didn't care for the darkening of the foreground away from the site photo. Please help me understand why this happens. Here is the link the page with the photo. Look how much light is on the tractor and trailer and the green field. On the metal print, is so dark that the detail is much more subtle. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/tomato-harvest-sunset-la-rae-roberts.html

Important thing is if the buyer is not happy with it, tell them to get in touch with FAA and return it. I order two metal prints from FAA and they both came back not at all like they look on the web site. Initially, FAA said any reprint would look exactly the same, but they did it and -- guess what? -- the reprints looked like they do on the web site. At no time did I change the image.

On the other hand, you said other labs produce similiar results? I like the version on the web site, but obviously there is no way for us to tell how different the shots are, even if we see a photo of the print.

Is the farm happy with the print?

It looks pretty dark on my monitor also. I think you need to adjust monitor brightness because backlit screen images tend to look brighter than ink on paper.

Metal prints print darker, which is something to keep in mind with images. To be on the safe side lighten up your image could make the difference.

If you have the same issue from other labs, odds are your monitor is set a little too bright or not calibrated. Check that first.

Thanks for the input. It is not just one computer it is all of them look better than what gets printed from the labs. I will remember to note that I want to make sure the foreground is not underexposed when I order again. My screen doesn't seem all that bright on my laptop. Oh, well. They are still happy with it, but as an artist, it is a sad thing to see.

If the customer is happy, you should be happy!
