Okay, This Is Getting Old...

Anybody know why, after four days of trying to delete an image, the thumbnail still will not be removed? There is nothing under the thumbnail. It does not open into anything, it just
stays on the FAA.com page. Is this typical of this site? No one manning the store?

Thanks

Please don't be offended by the question. Have you refreshed your browser?

This kind of thing has caught me, btw.

Most sites that have to deal with a lot of images use high amount of caching, so you might try clearing your browser cache, and see if it still shows up.

all i can say is, the ones that you saw yesterday, the ones i posted, did erase.

for the heck of it, log into your pixels account and see if its still there.

I'm never offended when people are offering their help... but yes, I have emptied my cache. And the thumbnail is also showing up on Pixels. When I click on the thumbnail it says, "The page you have requested can not be found."

So I know the image isn't really in there, but I don't want the thumbnail showing up on there either.

Thank you all for your patience with this, and me. :o)

Crazy question, but how are you finding these dead thumbnail links? Are you looking at your own profile page and you see them there amongst your artwork or are you searching for them using the site's search function?

The site search is cached on the server side (meaning not your computer) . So, if the search hasn't updated recently it will show links to work that is no longer there until the search updates again. Usually every 24 hours but sometimes days have passed between updates. If you delete a work or change the name of it, etc., the search on the site will continue to point to the old URL for the work until it updates again (however long that takes).

It's not on my behind the scenes and it's not on my URL that goes into FAA, it's on the page that customers get on. When my name is put on the search bar and my gallery comes up to the customer, there is the dead thumbnail. So, www.fineartamerica.com Search: ellen zaslaw and then you will see a thumbnail that says: Port Elizabeth. I want that gone.

Thanks.
Ellen

Bingo, you're searching for your artwork and the search is cached on the server side. Those dead links will exist until the search is updated however long that takes.

And that's why your profile shows 42 images but the search returns 43. The search results are still showing an image that has since been deleted. It will eventually go away.

Good to know Mark, thank you !

When I go to your FAA site, I am not seeing anything for Port Elzabeth. I'm seeing 42 images. If I am not mistaken, it was 44 images yesterday. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, apparently, and some bugs in the machine. For example, for the last two days, every once in a while when I go back to the main discussion page, it shows a version from Friday complete with the thread started by the older gentleman who is confused I hit refresh and it comes back to today, but later it will go back to Friday's version. I expect all of this to clearr up, ahem, very shortly. But the point is that apparently your personal page looks fine to viewers coming in to see it.

This was explained in your last thread. We would be grateful if you would keep to the one thread when you have an issue, please

Thanks Joseph, but the thumbnail is still there on the mother site. I tried it from a friend's computer as well as my own, after I cleared my cache. And it isn't going away by anything I do.

I went back to your site. I remember seeing the Port Elizabeth shot yesterday, but it's not there today. I then searched for it and got this: "Ellen Zaslaw has not uploaded any images that match the search term: port elizabeth" It's gone.

Joseph,

I really appreciate your taking the time.

Unfortunately, I am still seeing the thumbnail. I have looked on four different computers to see that it is still there.

Yes, I deleted two images yesterday. So what I am also seeing Is 42 images plus a dead thumbnail.

I guess this kind of thing is what I, and probably others, will have to put up with to be on this site.

I give up.

Mark is right. I can see the thumbnail in a search on your name that returns 43 thumbnails, but it's not within your 42 images.
Just wait and this will go away ... probably within a day or two.

Okay, thanks Steve.

I am not seeing a thumbnail of this image at all on a search of your name.

When you log on, you will see it for a while. To see if it is truly gone, you have to either not log on or have someone else do so. Don't sweat it, it's gone.

Yup, that's right, I wasn't ever logged in when I saw it. I was on the FAA site with my name in the search bar. I knew it was not in my behind the scenes or personal URL there.
