Our Governments, not Political, just An Objective Discussion.

Hello to All!

I just posted this on my FB page and thought I would share this thought. This isn't political, in the sense that one part or the other would have handled this situation any better, but just my personal, objective response on how the Unitied States and other governments have handled the Ebola crisis in North Africa. We and by "we" the World had an chance to control this and in the process, save possibly thousands of lives, now and in the future and yet, "we" didn't. This is directed towards "my" government, the United States of America, but all major governments now share the blame.
When wake up tomorrow, I will not be surprised to learn of more victims, infected by the nurse from Dallas and then later, the people on that plane, 170 or so. Along with the 76(?) now in quarantine in Dallas, who know what number this will be,by weeks end's end. I mentioned President Obama in my FB post, but really, doesn't matter who's or what party is in charge, does it now?

Here's the FB post:

"We ALL think that the United States is this all powerful and perfect nation. Everything we do is right and perfect. Well, that ain't it at all! Everyone from the President down, are just normal folk and all make mistakes and bad judgement calls. The U.S. should have been all over this a few months ago, instead of letting this blow up and then come to America. That decision, from Obama on down was wrong, along with lot's of other decisions, drone bombing of innocents, etc. is symptomatic of us, as a nation and a people. We all make mistakes, it's just that the people we elect, sometimes their mistakes, are costly. I voted for Obama twice and on many levels, am disappointed with him and his people. But to allow this Ebola to come to the U.S. and now possibly to all those that were on that plane with this new victim, is typical of OUR government, regardless of party or politics. We may be in for a rough ride. A few days ago, before they found out about this new infected nurse, ALL the talk was about "This isn't Africa and we are prepared!" Well ask those 70 or so people that are now quarantined and the soon to be people from that flight from Ohio to Dallas, if we, the United States has this under control. We couldn't even get a web site to work! How do the people in NJ feel about how the government handled that hurricane? We ALL need to realize that our government isn't the answer to all problems. And in some cases, causes larger problems than the original. We had 1 case of Ebola, not many days ago and now, WHO knows? If you agree with this or have something to add, please do, but don't just hit the like button, this is way too important.................Rich Franco"

I guess we expect our elected officials to have superpowers like in the movies. Protect us from all harms. Meanwhile more people die each year from the flu.

Rich, I hate to say I don't see this discussion going anywhere here because to really discuss it it's going require getting political to a certain degree. So here is a link to a discussion in the group "Everything in moderation including moderation":

Hi Rich...I am from NJ and although I didn't get hit as hard as a lot of others...others still suffering from that disaster...I really don't know what could have been done differently. Or Katrina... another really bad one. What they could have done differently I don't know. I can't even imagine what it would have been like if NYC hard take a direct hit with that thing.

Ebola is a totally frightening issue as no one is immune. From the first case, how many years ago, until now, I would like to think that the CDC has been frantically working on a cure/treatment/vaccine but who knows? With a 21 day incubation period I can't imagine how it took this long to reach the US and the rest of the civilized world. How far and fast this thing will spread is anyone's guess...I don't really have anything to add but it has been on my mind....a lot. The hurricane IMO is nothing compared to this.

Some people actually are immune - http://en.ird.fr/the-media-centre/scientific-newssheets/337-possible-natural-immunity-to-ebola

Possibly getting the antibodies from fruit bats. Unfortunately no fruit bats in my neck of the woods. Viruses are quite fascinating because their ultimate "goal" is not to kill the host which would kill them. If the virus were allowed to spread through out the world it would eventually develope into a less potent version of itself. (of course after killing millions).

the article says they might get the immunity from eating the fruit the bats drop. I actually saw a show on PBS last week that said the transmission may very well come from people EATING fruit bats.

I also once heard that some people, who had ancestors that survived the bubonic plague, may be immune to AIDS today.

Well good luck with that.

You can't say this is not political and start talking about politics. The government is a 100% political entity.

"That decision, from Obama on down was wrong, along with lot's of other decisions, "

How can you possible think that that is not a political statement? And how can you possible thing that that is not going to irritate a lot of Obama supporters? It does not matter if the statement is correct or not. No one cares about being right or wrong. The only care about having their guy in power.

Like I said Rich, go luck with that.

I will offer up this non-political comment for you folks to chew on instead of bat droppings.

SARS, bird flu and mad cow are all diseases that were going to kill millions of Americans in the last ten years of so. That never happened.

Don't forget HIV and Aids. I'm still nervous about mad cow.

Can I put "Not Religious" in the title of my next post and then proceed to talk religion? Is this an FAA loophole?

I remember an old adage about taking your written drivers test: If there is safety in one of the multiple choice questions... check it. And this two liner... "Safety First"!

Our treatment of this problem by passed the "safety" answer. Why?

By the way... HIV is still a huge problem. We don't hear much about it for obvious reasons....

Rich,

Every time you say "WE" please only speak for your self.

I dont share any of your views. At least not on this.

And this is only a political post. There never was a need for this OP.
