Totally Selfish Splurge

I recently got payment for a licensing deal, and decided to go for a totally selfish splurge.

I wanted to be able to play music from my phone into my car.
A new head unit, bluetooth microphone...now I can have wireless phone calls while I'm driving and play whatever music I want.

My Subaru Outback is now a rock out machine...and I bounced to a happy song all the way home from work today.

There are a lot of aspects of being an adult that are a drag, paying bills, and all the mundane stuff. Don't forget to have fun, splurge a little when you can, enjoy the fruit of your hard work. =)

Any other splurges going on lately?

That's fantastic! Congratulations. That new toy of yours will always remind you of a happy moment, getting payed for a licensing deal. Nothing wrong with spoiling yourself now and again. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Well deserved. I saw a dash cam that I want to buy. I kind of enjoy picking up static laced radio stations on long drives. Always nice to see physical evidence of your labor or at least the memory of a nice meal. Congrats!

You are absolutely right, Angelina ! Occasional personal splurges for something that brings YOU happiness or joy is good for the soul. Then your happiness and joy will spread to your family, friends, co-workers and others you interact with. Like " a snowball rolling downhill ".

Therefore, how can a so-called " totally selfish splurge " be considered selfish when as a direct result you are spreading / sharing / inspiring joy and happiness with those around you ?

Congratulations and well done ! Life is too short to miss out on an opportunity to do so.

In late August my wife and I "splurged" on a trip to Paris and southern France. Besides the beautiful scenery, great food, fine wine and wonderful photographic opportunities...we were able to meet with FAA member and the very talented Elise Palmigiani during a brief visit in Lyon. A most memorable experience, indeed !

i had a good month last year and i was determined to get something nice (though i haven't gotten paid yet for it so i shouldn't jinx it). i wanted to get a macro lens, and i still can't say yes because i don't use the one i have right now. and don't really shoot macro.

so maybe a wide angle, but i only use the one lens an i have a wide i don't use.

so maybe a new mini camera, i can't find one i like.

so i'm back to getting nothing again...

while i'd like to upgrade the speakers in my car i can't justify the purchase.

Mike, you sound like my husband. He's very practical when it comes to money, too. I wouldn't say that I'm impractical with it, but I just have an easier time justifying my little splurges. Lately it's been yarn. I tell myself, 'Oh, I don't have any in this color,' or 'This one's discontinued. Have to stock up.' But last year we had to buy a huge bookcase with bins just to store all the yarn that I've amassed over the years. I tell my husband I'm just investing in my dotage. Someday I'll get around to using all of it.

Angelina, have fun with your splurge! :)

Good for you Angelina, well deserved. May be a splurge - but certainly not selfish at all.
Consider in investment towards a happy attitude, and all that you put out into the world when you are happy.

Plus you are practicing safety. All good.

Husband is the splurger here - I'm quite a bit less indulgent. Which is good, because he reminds me that it is ok to enjoy freely sometimes.

Aww...thanks everyone! For the celebration with me and the the congrats! =D

True, Darice, it will remind me of a happy moment every time!

Yup, Craig...it's nice to have physical evidence. =)

Sounds wonderful...a dream vacation Mel. True...having splurges can create some positive outcomes, selfish as in I just wanted it for me! But, my husband is enjoying it too.

LOL...Abbie, rockin' out to FAA...that would be interesting! Ya, gadgets are fun.

Hey Mike, maybe it's time to justify it. You can't think of what to do with the extra money anyway.

Ha April, yarn...well, we all have our quirks, yarn isn't the worst one. I have a collection of oddities.

It is an investment into a happy attitude...I love music so much. My husband and I each have things we can splurge on. We help keep in other in check...lol.

It's not selfish to be kind to everyone. And that includes yourself, from time to time!

Congratulations Angelina, a great way to celebrate a reward for your hard work.... not selfish at all!

I have been here for less than two years but have been trying really hard to get my images noticed. Today I got my largest payment from FAA (no where near what Mike or JC will receive) but I'm so excited I'm off to the shops to splurge on some new season's clothes. I love a bit of retail therapy and I need a break from my computer!

the only thing i really need is better computer guts. but i don't feel like doing the research. maybe after i get paid for it all, it's still in writing, but so far it looks like their keeping it.
