Was Yahoo's Tumblr Acquisition A Flop?

i don't care much for tumblr, i'm not sure why yahoo keeps buying out dated sites like they do. i don't see how it's an advantage to own tumblr, it doesn't even have content, just a i took the image for my page too.

Whats Tumblr? Who's Yahoo?

Yahoo!'s not where the kids are, but Tumblr is.
My youthful content is catnip over there, and sure I don't get many buyers from there (I've gotten, like 2, as far as I can tell), but I get a lot of exposure.
Yahoo! wants to go where the kids are and so do I! (For me, the creativity I see there rivals DeviantArt and I get pretty inspired.)

Yahoo belongs to the 90's.

i remember when they bought geocities. but when they realized they couldn't steal the content (take our copyrights). they failed in like 2 years and it vanished. everyone protested that the only way we can get in is to sign in, and to sign in means we agree. they totally failed on that. flickr isn't all that great since they took over, ironically the search there is terrible. i wonder what plans they have for the images that are in tumblr.

Lesley -- are you on Flickr? Now they Yahoo owns both, when you share from Flickr to Tumblr it comes with full attribution and you can see what pictures are doing what with Flickr stats.

Mike -- I'm finding there are more people searching on Flickr for images than ever before. It's like Flickr is for images what YouTube is for video.

except that when you go back, resize the page etc, your skirted to the top of the page again. its rather irksome.
