Paul Klee Flying Continental

For many years I have been doing watercolors and acrylic versions of same, I have termed Airline Abstracts. Which is to say on airline flights I would look around me and try to think of what a famous painter would paint. This is my latest with a short video from start to finish.

Very interesting work you're producing there Kevin. I like it.... can I ask...is this abstract inspired by a seat covering or interior cladding of some sort?

edit: great little vid too...

Barry! Spot on, I was looking at the back of an airplane seat. It just morphed from there. Do I need to pay Continental? Hmmnn...

BTW, in our family of artists, we call the term "interesting" cocktail party language. Covers all bases, and says both positive and negative, depending on what one wants to hear.

Of course, I heard positive. Smiling.

lol...yeah I meant it in the positive manner.. "fascinating" would have been more apt. As far as paying Continental...you will be hearing from their lawyers.

How do any of you "create"?

Someone must also document their process? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? Chuckle...

The voices in other peoples heads tell me what to do. Love the work and video documentation!

I would be willing to bet most of us art types talk to ourselves. AND we have better agreements with ourselves too. Ron, how do you get to your excellent work?

Thanks Kevin! Most of the time my work originates with doodling. The act of drawing seems to generate ideas and from that I start to focus. Sometimes directly on the surface of the painting and sometimes with more sketches. I seem to be a bear of very little brain since I could sit there and stare for hours at the painting surface and never have a good idea pop into my head.
