"brooklyn Mood" Photo Sold At Bwac's Fall Art Show Opening

I am pleased to report that my "Brooklyn Mood" photo sold this past Saturday at the opening of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition Art Show! I find that when it comes to art, there really is no substitute for a customer to get close and personal with a piece of art that they like and "check out the goods" before they decide to purchase it. The challenge for most artists selling at FAA or any other online facility is that the customer never really has a chance to have that same intimate experience or feel the real impact a piece of art may have on them emotionally.

Any thoughts or ideas on how we can enrich the "Customer Experience" online is most welcome and something we can all benefit from!

Congratulations on your sale at the show. I don't have any ideas to share, but I wanted to say I love the style of your photography. (Incidentally, I had to look up "Dumbo" in relation to Brooklyn. Lol, I thought it had something to do with Disney!)

Congratulations Jeff on your sale! For my blog I am passionate about having the largest image at 800 px, we are in the art business and need larger images to show and draw the customer in. The blog image is linked to my gallery image.

Guys - thanks for taking a look and your kind comments. I took the opportunity to browse through your FAA portfolios and loved your work. I am amazed at the infinite styles, subjects and images that are created by artists worldwide and find that I am always inspired to create more. If you have not done so already, I recommend that you use the Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest links to actively post your photos and showcase your work. I would also recommend that you try the eMAIL facility FAA provides to send out periodic notes to get everyone to have a look at your work. I think that we need to use every avenue available to put our work in front of people and give them an opportunity to be moved by it [and dare I say "buy it"]. Keep up the great work, Jeff

It's a beautiful photograph, Jeff -- congratulations!

I agree that nothing matches the impact of getting your work 'face to face' with potential buyers.

I think a big part of the problem is size. Most people have a really hard time visualizing size - even when measurements are provided. Looking at something on-screen will never be as effective as holding even a smallish print in your hands.

That's why I carry an 11x14 portfolio, wherever I go. This year, I've sold more prints from my book than I have through FAA. If I could carry a bigger bag, I'd probably cart around a 16x20 portfolio! ;-)

Online selling is great, and I've been lucky enough to sell a lot of work online over the last decade, to buyers all over the world. But, nothing beats 'up close and personal', so I work at doing both!
