Recent Print Sales

Hello. Question! Upon signing in I have been checking out the recent print sales. I noticed that many selling prints are from artists that have been members of this site for years...and the most recent being a member as of January 2014...until I stopped clicking through recent sale pages...any correlation or just a coincidence? Im new here just trying to figure out how things work! Thanks!

coincidence. people that have been here years have already established connections with advertising. they are stable here so google puts them higher. usually the longer your here the more work you have, so there is more selection. and the more sales you get the higher you are in the main search. other sales like things you bought yourself end up there as well. i never much paid attention to when they started though. ideally it's best to concentrate on advertising yourself, and tell people your here.

there have been people here for years without a sale. and people here for an hour and happen to get a sale.

Takes a while to get established and build a following. Most people give up or toss in the towel long before they become successful.

I got a sale after being here less than a week. For some, it took less time. It was another month or two to get my second sale and much longer than that to get my third. Since then, I've not done too badly. But one surefire way to really have a rotten time selling art is to constantly worry about how you're doing -- or not doing -- at selling art.

I used to look at the recent sales page a lot. Gives one an idea of the type of artwork that sells here (every site is different - some favor illustration for example). But eventually you just have to find your own vision and keep working at it.

Thank you Edward! I am not worried about selling...just trying to educate myself on how this site works. I am actually enjoying the process!

Most new sellers can expect to go months before their first sale, though there are exceptions. It takes hard work to get people to notice you. The odds of being a new seller and getting a quick sale is pretty low.

The more established sellers get priority in the search results on FAA so for someone new to get found on here... It definitely takes some work.

This of course assumes that you aren't bringing a following with you.

Hi April, I have been on the site for a little over a year and a half. I got my first sale after 4 weeks!!! Some of my friends that took photos similar to my photos standing next to me have never sold anything! Some say that getting comments, LIKES, and FAV dose not matter but I think it dose! To get LIKES, and comment you need to be commenting on others work. It also helps to put your best work up too! Also make sure you put as many TAGS on your photos as you can! That way if someone dose a search they will see your work!!! I hope my one cents worth helps!!!
