Right on which is why I never take my wife with me when I do my street photography.
Today I went with a lady pal to a nature area to shoot "birds." Sigh, good thing I like this woman. She is a bird photographer. I love nature and came back with a few nice shots of a chickadee and warbler, but........I'd rather be in my car (think of Travis Bickle in the movie Taxi Driver) taking pics of the characters on the street.
As we were driving to the nature area (close to my favorite street haunt) I was showing my lady pal the "characters" I photograph when I am by myself (with my pitbull riding with me).
Once in the nature area, as my lady pal was serenely and oh so slowly walking the trails in search of birds, I had her back with my knife in my hand. See, this nature area is in a big city by Lake Michigan. It's a perfect place for crimes of opportunity (muggings, sexual assaults) etc. I casually pointed out to her 3 or 4 lone men who were not in the bird area to look at birds, but......well I don't want Jeffrey to censor me so I will stop here.
Some of you want me to chat up the street people I photograph. You have got to be kidding.
Which is why I do street photography by myself. Most do. Unless you are in training and the "pro" street photographer has a group out for a "silly" street shoot.
