Maybe try adding cheese to your diet, sounds stupid but helped me.

I have had all the symptoms but never went to specialist. To get that diagnoses would have cost my job. My regular doctor is aware of most of the problems. I have 40% hearing loss and I had the vertigo very severe, but it is gone now. Now that I have full insurance I have been moving forward on a lot of things. Thanks for the reminder that I need to see an ENT.

Meniere's Disease is manageable...I hope that is what they discover it to be, so that you can be treated properly.
I'd suggest reading this article for a good overview...

Teresa, I had some episodes of vertigo that were pretty bad. Also, two of my friends and coworkers did, coincidentally. What did we have in common? Autoimmune thyroid disorders. There is a link. Make sure your doctor tests for this. Once my medication was adjusted, I haven't had an episode in over two years. Most doctors won't think of this, so you may have to bring it up as a possibility. Good luck!! I know that vertigo can be darned scary. I'm so relieved that mine got sorted out.

Hopefully you will feel better soon Teresa. It sounds like a very uncomfortable problem.

Teresa I wish you luck with getting the right diagnosis and treatment. I feel for what you are experiencing. I had what I call my "falling over" sickness. I had numerous symptoms but the biggest one was that I would fall over too easily...bend down to pet my dog and fall to the ground instead. I was covered with bruises and scrapes. MRI, CAT, X-Ray, sinus scope, hearing checks, blood work. Several months and several different specialists. Finally an ENT doctor said since all my tests were negative, it was probably a virus and it would run it's course. Fortunately in about a years time I recovered, and it probably was a virus. Awful to go through, so I feel for you. Hang in there. Keep going to specialist until you get diagnosis/treatment that works to help you feel better. Good luck. Hugs.

Hi Teresa,

I am so very sorry you are having to go through this.

I have been living with Meniere's for over 33 years. I am keeping my fingers crossed you do not have this.

Its not an easy disease to deal with and there is no cure. I am unable, as with many people with Meniere's to work outside the home.

Am Bilateral, with my right side being worse. I am totally deaf low to mid range, high range is super sensitive and very distorted.
Think of Darth Vader with a gender issue talking underwater.
One of the only diseases you can be both deaf and super sensitive to loud noises.
Someone opening a chip bag, sounds like a bomb going off and hurts just as much.

Me, I mostly keep it under control by not doing things that I know that will trigger mine.
Keep to a low salt diet,,, about 800mg a salt a day. Means making 90% of your own food including bread.
That, and drinking lots of water, helps keep it under control. (make sure the water has no sodium and has not gone through a water softener system)
When my Menerie's flairs up... I take Meclizine... which really helps.

Staying away from shopping malls,, the lights and security systems can trigger a drop attack. I can't go see a movie and such like that.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask. There also some good support groups....

Hiya Teresa,

I have had Manieres's Disease for nearly 30 years and I have managed it with Meclizine pills once or twice a day. Last year I even went on a cruise and never had a problem. Unfortunately, in order to diagnose Manieres's Disease doctors have to give you many tests and after eliminating everything else from brain tumors to cancer they finally discover that you have Manieres's Disease. Trust me when I tell you that I have a complete life style without any problems of dizziness. Years ago I couldn't walk a straight line and I fell down quite a bit too. So get yourself some Meclizine pills and start enjoying life again.

You are welcome Teresa.

Sorry to hear you have Menieres too Harold. Is not a fun disease to have and it does rule ones life.

Normal people just don't understand, because we look ok. My schedule has to very adjustable and most don't get that.

I walk with a cane because of an accident that broke my back a number of years ago. But I have to tell you, it does help with the Menieres to keep one upright.

Just came off a pretty nasty attack, first one I have had since moving to VA. I know better, but was dumb enough to put my head up side down. Didn't work out well.
sigh ~~
