Hi Teresa,
I am so very sorry you are having to go through this.
I have been living with Meniere's for over 33 years. I am keeping my fingers crossed you do not have this.
Its not an easy disease to deal with and there is no cure. I am unable, as with many people with Meniere's to work outside the home.
Am Bilateral, with my right side being worse. I am totally deaf low to mid range, high range is super sensitive and very distorted.
Think of Darth Vader with a gender issue talking underwater.
One of the only diseases you can be both deaf and super sensitive to loud noises.
Someone opening a chip bag, sounds like a bomb going off and hurts just as much.
Me, I mostly keep it under control by not doing things that I know that will trigger mine.
Keep to a low salt diet,,, about 800mg a salt a day. Means making 90% of your own food including bread.
That, and drinking lots of water, helps keep it under control. (make sure the water has no sodium and has not gone through a water softener system)
When my Menerie's flairs up... I take Meclizine... which really helps.
Staying away from shopping malls,, the lights and security systems can trigger a drop attack. I can't go see a movie and such like that.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask. There also some good support groups....
