Takes So Long To Upload Image That Faa Times Out

Hi all,

Has anyone else had this problem lately? I am trying to upload new work but when I click the "submit" button it takes about a half an hour per image, then comes up saying my session has timed out. After spending the half hour waiting, it is quite discouraging to not get any where for someone who has very limited time as it is.

Quite frustrating.

What I have done...

Closed and restarted my computer.

Logged out of FAA and then logged back in.

I have a MAC and have not had any problems until lately.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Patricia

Just uploaded, no problem. Make sure you don't have 2 windows/tabs open, and its not over 25mb. Otherwise, just give it some time then try again.

Hi Heather,

I did try this and it is way under the mb limit. It uploads but the problem is when I click submit that takes about a half hour then boots me out because it takes so long.

Thank you Heather though for at least replying. :)

Just spent my day working on new art and very discouraging I can't upload it.

Have you checked the speed of your internet connection? Perhaps your bandwith is diminished temporarily. I had a couple of modestly slow uploads earlier, but no where near what you are reporting. My last upload took about 3 minutes.

Hello Patricia! I too have a Mac and my images have uploaded quickly today. One thing I do is I empty my cache several times during the day. Also, as Greg says, it could be related to the speed of your connection?? Anyway, best wishes for quicker uploads! Kirsten

My first suggestion that I always tell people when they're experiencing slow internet speeds is to GET OFF WIFI. :)
Try a direct, wired connection (with an ethernet cord) before anything else and see if it improves.
If not, go here: http://www.speedtest.net
If your speeds are above 2 Mbps, that shouldn't be the problem.
If it's slower than 2 Mbps, you might want to look into upgrading your internet service to a higher speed.
Then head to: http://www.pingtest.net
If your grade is A or B, that shouldn't be the problem.
If it's C or lower, you might want to contact your internet service provider and tell them you've got poor line quality. They may send a tech out to check your lines.
95% of the time, slow internet speeds are due to high volumes of traffic taxing your service provider. Try testing your connection again in the morning or very late at night (at off-peak times).

I had that problem when using Firefox. When I switched to Chrome, that problem disappeared.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
David.

Bugs me with the 25mb limits. With large mega pixel cameras today that needs to be increased. And why allow the file to even begin to upload if it is too large it should not go further. Seriously my stitched files are too large at times and I have to cut size or quality to get it uploaded, Sean needs to increase that limit.

I have found that Sundays and the busy 8:00pm hours sometimes give me a problem exactly as you said. Very frustrating after adding all the tags and descriptions etc.

Since I live in an area that has slow internet service, this often happens to me. When it does, I go to Starbucks, the library, etc., where there is faster internet. That solves the problem.

I do live in town but the town is more in the country than the cities, no Starbucks anywhere near me so not an option. I did have success when I waited until the next day but it is very discouraging when like Val said, frustrating after entering all the keywords etc.

I too think they should up the 25mb, because like Bonfire mentioned, today's cameras take larger images and I do think that can inhibit some to have the ability to print larger prints.

Hopefully this will change sometime soon for everyone's sake.

Thank you all for commenting with great answers!

Spent at least 1 hour trying to upload today and twice I have been timed out!
It's only a small file but each time I have filled in relevant information and then "Timed Out" appears.
I did notice that even my name is not already filled in on the upload page..mmmm,very strange!

It seems there is more than just a slow internet connection going on. Maybe FAA needs to do some updates that allow faster uploads so we don't timeout?
