Finally, After 6 Days Shy Of 6 Months

Back on March 25, I was contacted by DAC Art Consultants out of Atlanta asking about \\\"But It Never Rains In Seattle\\\" saying an unnamed hotel (now known to be the Seattle Westin) wanted a 26\\\" x 34.25\\\" print on a paper FAA doesn\\\'t offer. My asking price was $500 and not until yesterday September 19 did I get an answer back. They accepted the offer and I have been sent a contract. Now it\\\'s just a matter of fine tuning to ensure they get the right image. The original emails and the purchase order they sent me all name the image as just \\\"But In Never Rains\\\". I have two images that both carry the title \\\"But It Never Rains In Seattle\\\" but only one of them, back on March 25th, had a viewer from Seattle that day. That\\\'s the one I\\\'m posting here. The contract looks good and I feel I will be protected from multiple printings. I really appreciate all those who previously chimed in with their concerns about this being legitimate. That made me do some homework. And I think it is paying off. I\\\'ll get back with them to verify absolutely which image it was that was desired in order to make certain no embarrassing mistakes are made. This is exciting. And hopefully it will be just the first of many more to come.

Excellent news!! Congratulations! It makes me think that setting up regional galleries may pay off (you have a Seattle gallery). Not sure if that's how they found you, but it's all good.

Congrats Tim, I think I would have given up on it, and most likely forgotten it.

Thank you all. I appreciate it. It was a long haul and I often wondered if the hotel, of which I still didn't know the name of yet, had simply rejected my offer and walked away without a word. But lo and behold, the accepted my price request. I remember back around Memorial Day weekend at the Folklife Festival here in Seattle, I ran into a friend of mine with a booth at Folklife where he sells cribbage boards he makes. After I told him about the deal with the consulting firm, he told me to simply forget about it and continue with your life. It is useless to fret about it. He related to me that he had had the captain of a fishing fleet come to him and asked him to supply all of his fishing boats with a cribbage board. That was 10 years ago. He still is waiting for the deal to come through. Every time he calls them, they say "We're working on it."

Just glad I only had to wait 6 months. :-)

Not exactly sure how they found me but I do have a gallery for Seattle and the Northwest.

And yes, there indeed is a glimmer of hope. In fact, after I got this offer back in March, I decided to start a gallery of images, The Bouquet Unleashed, that can be potentially enlarged to as big as 9 feet x 4 feet. We are talking corporate lobby size. This is not to say I will ever get requests for these images in that size but just having them available to offer. Had a whale of a lot of fun along the way too.

I'm also wondering if it would be wise to wander down to The Westin (only 2 or 3 blocks from my apartment) once it is delivered and ask to see it hanging and get a picture of it for my portfolio. Who knows, I may not be Picasso or Monet but I wonder if they might ask me to sign it too. Just wondering. Or would that be too tacky? Again, just wondering.
