Carolyn Weltman, The Red Peony Shoe is fabulous.
Your style reminds me of the covers of the New Yorker from years ago. Al Hirschfeld was the illustrator. If you're not familiar with his work, check it out sometime. He inserted his daughter's name (Nina) into every drawing.
My Dad got the New Yorker magazine for years. He would assign me the task of finding Nina in the drawings.

Patricia, thank you. Erica, thank you too. i used to go to a restaurant called Alfredos (at rockefeller center) which recently and sadly closed. the walls were covered in Hirschfelds. with Nina's name in them. i'm so honoured you would put me in the same sentence as him.
and thank you too too the Koehrer-Wangners for liking my Sophi. one of the few pieces i drew without a model. i just imagined it from the inside out.

Thanks Barry and Carolyn.. much appreciated. I am enjoying looking through these. What a fabulous idea this thread was. It's very hard now to pick one particular picture from anyone. It's going to be very hard as more people join.
Sooo while I am here, I will pick someone's picture and just know you might be next LOL.
I love the bizarre and strange and anything that goes with it... so I picked one of Patrick Anthony Pierson's pictures. I love frogs. I used to catch them when I was a kid. The one with the legs is so funny. Probably why I didn't eat them, they were very human legs. Kinda freaked me out. Great job on the Bullfrog too.
All your pictures are quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much, Erica, for choosing to feature one of my mixed media pieces, The Princess and the Frogs, in this showcase thread.
I would agree with you that it's definitely "...bizarre and strange," and intentionally so. As for the frog our princess has chosen, it's a female changeling (those shapely gams give it away every time!), which means she must continue her quest to find her prince. Or, maybe she's looking for a princess...who knows.
Naturally, after reading Erica's comments about my stuff and why it would likely be 'her cup of tea,' my curiosity was piqued and I just had to go a-browsing through her galleries.
Holy smokin' mackerel! There are over sixteen hundred works of the most beautiful artwork on her site, which meant I was suddenly in the middle of a daunting task: How to find one that spoke to me from among so many.
Here's the one I picked; a gorgeous work of gorgeosity, so compellingly mysterious and carefully nuanced with delicate detail as to seem almost too fragile to look at. I love it!

I have also chosen one of Carolyn's sumptuous oils to feature in this artist's showcase-of-a-thread, this one having so smitten me with it's languid sensuality - almost reminiscent of another of my favorite artists, Lucien Freud - and her choice of fleshy ochres over a blood-red background makes it so hard to stop looking! Also, the self-assured line indicating a steady hand, which is what I love so much about drawing...it would make Degas jealous.
Bravo! Carolyn.

Shark, deep ocean and a lost love...Traveling many miles is the sunken soul, the lost traveler shall find his repose, when the rivulets of a dream reach for the hand of a mermaid to allow him to search for the breath upon the surface of an illusion......Description Courtesy Katerina Koehlerova

Robert, if you are still having trouble posting your image. Do what Carolyn said above. You won't see the image after you paste it here until you hit Submit. All you will see is the hypertext. Good luck.

Patrick thanks for such a wonderful write-up. I'm glad you chose one of my pictures, I never know who might like the strange things I put on LOL. Gotta tip-toe through everyone's again, soon as I have a few min. I think everyone here has something different and unique to offer.
Does anyone have some Kleenex? Mario's work of art is dripping down towards my post LOL.
