And have some fun!
Some times we take art so seriously. Categorizing, analyzing, critiquing, so forth and so on.
Really, if art, makes one feel good whether admiring others or creating one's own who gives a ##$@ĄŁ€ what others think. Building my business, having to micro manage every aspect of it, I almost forgot what it is to be a kid. Having fun with the eye of a child is why I'm in this business in the first place.
Painting this WIP reminded me of this.
Doesn't your art make you happy? What about admiration of others'?

Drew,
U R quite correct. All work and no play, makes for a dull life. One of my favorite photographers is Elliot Erwitt. Atho he has a serious side, he also has a comical side as well as his humorous images show down thru the many years he has been with us (and still is).
I, too, like to create some humor in my images. I even have a gallery here that shows my funny stuff. Here is one such image....

Drew,
I just looked at your images. Wow!!! Love your work. When I win the lottery, I will collect your stuff. Really Really wonderful.

Well said H Drew!... there's far too many "soor pusses" focusing too much on the business side of things with their eyes on the prize and missing the here and now.

Yep Barry, sometimes we get out of balance. Hell, I was reading a critique and it sounded too dam much like me of late. That sheot gotz to change.

La, la, la, la...dum de dum, doo, doo, doo.
That's me singing happily this morning. (I know, don't quit my day job.) I've been complaining about stuff lately, grumbling under my breath about sh*t that doesn't amount to a hill of beans (or anything else for that matter). Thank you for reminding me IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!!! :-).

Mary, didn't quit my day job either. Just retired from it and started a business of my own design. Had a quite successful and rewarding career as an engineer but need to put that high stress behind. Have to be reminded of that every day. Guess old habits are hard to break.

Tell me about it, Drew. I'm still fully employed. Waiting for a server issue to clear up so I'm lurking in here. I also drive 50 miles one way to the office. I was taking every route I could think of and they all had backups, accidents, etc. unless I didn't leave the office until about 7:00 pm. I finally "bit the bullet" and took a slightly longer route that for a goodly stretch goes through farmland. I'm SOOO much more relaxed this week. It takes 10 minutes longer, but it's consistently 10 minutes longer so instead of an hour 45 fighting traffic, it's taking me an hour 15.
It's important to find the stuff that's really wearing you down and try to think of ways to eliminate them.

I once had the pleasure to work on a conceptual project with David Ewart; Ideas for a promotional animation using his art.
His art is some of the most whimsical work I have ever seen.
His work putz a smile on my face.

Mario... I love granny's brew shack! Are you aware that "White Lightning" is a brand name of some cheap nasty so-called cider(never seen an apple in it's life) which has taken a grip of the less well off jakeys up and down the U.K.?? LOL!

LOL, Barry, that doubles as an i-phone case and a lethal weapon.
Robert, when I see someone like this, I just have to wonder "where does this person work?" LOL.

I've had to be too serious lately preparing for my studio tour. Don't like it and can't create when stressed about everything being perfect. Makes me all out of balance.
After looking at my art, to try and find something that fits here, again I notice that my free spirit doesn't show through. It's all too stinkin serious. Need to change that asap. Thanks for the kick in the pants, Drew.

Mario, you should title your untitled piece that title, Too Much White Lightning. That's funny.

First word to look up: "essentialism". Thanks, Drew.
A most edifying and convivial thread for both me and my crew of rodents.
