What's Wrong With 'search'?

I conducted a 'Keyword' search for 'Geronimo' and up pops 66 Flower images by the artist Geronimo. I hope this is a temporary glitch.

I've in the past put my name in as a keyword. Guess this person did too

I'm changing to Black and White Art Vivian Anderson ALL

Considering a pseudonym of Naked Harley .

Uh oh. I thought we were supposed to put our name in as a keyword. I just did a search for "strand" and my images came up (mostly at the end, tough). Are we not supposed to do that?

We did have to at one point. Many, inc me, still do

Nothing is wrong with search...it found the word you looked for.

I will go and remove the keyword

Okay, there is something wrong with search lol he doesn't have that in the keywords.... We will get it fixed

If that's his name, and he had it as a keyword, why would you remove it?

OK ... I think some clarification is in order here.

This is a BIG issue.

Although it doesn't take a computer expert to diagnose there is a problem here, I am a certified computer expert.

KEYWORD Search is the foundation of any database. GOOGLE built their business and reputation on this principle. When you type in a naked Keyword you should expect items with all instances of that Keyword to show up in the Search Results. At least in the case of my Geronimo example above, that is not happening.

If the Search algorithm or programming is faulty, Artists' offerings will not show up in searches; and, likewise, collectors will not be shown all that is available for purchase.

Finally, Keywords are not the problem. Fix the underlying programming or bug/glitch.

It is just picking up the name over the keyword. It will be fixed

.

To answer Daniel Hagerman, experienced computer programmer, who posted here.....................

Since the new Collections addition to any/every page in Search, any tag, there is now a preponderance of images from the same people...........we all know it now, after lengthly discussions in forum, and a lot of heated posts.
Well, I'm still heated.
What on earth does anyone do? I have used a tag in good faith...........abstract square painting.......of course thousands use it too.........but guess who shows up, not just by clicking those little Collections boxes for the chosen few.........well, it's those self-same peoples' artworks on the page below the "chosen-few" boxes...........which means.....one cannot get past them now.

What riles me is........now , if I use a tag also used/completed by the Collections committee, then someone clicks that tag at my page, and I am
therefore sending them away from me, understood, and advertising the Chosen Few for FAA..........

I will now remove my tags so as not to do FAA's promotion work via the Collections Committee choices overriding me being seen now, ever! Why should I promote anyone else via this new system that shows only Chosen Few..........?

Collections have indeed changed the search outcomes/images..............yes.....this is STILL a BIG issue...........Daniel Hagerman....see below

I think in the past you has to put your name in the keywords (and title too I think) if your wanted them in the searches. The new search how includes the artist name and title.

Bradford Martin

Glad this is being fixed because my files are all tagged Brad Martin and they are not showing up in a search now for Brad Martin. I am now invisible to those that usually find me here with that search term. Yes it is picking up the artist name and ignoring the keyword. Ideally it would do both.
