Winter Has Arrived Here Early!

It started snowing here yesterday afternoon...we woke up to this beautiful scene this morning. The view out our kitchen window while eating breakfast. :)

Wow! Still swimming over here in Alabama!
You have a lovely view from your kitchen.

Thanks Parker :)

Diane, I couldn't be more envious -- what an amazing sight in September!

In local weather news, we've been hovering near or about 100 for weeks. However, the weekend forecast is calling for our first cold front of the season: Saturday, high of 79 and Sunday, high of 89. Those are pretty incredible and chilly numbers for early September -- I'll take it!

Back up to mid-90's next week. Ah, well . . . I can't expect too much of a good thing.

Have a wonderful weekend, Diane!

wanna trade? we have predicted 100 today....
stunning shot, btw!

Marlene, you should pop over here for the weekend cold front. Also, just noticed we've got a chance of thunderstorms today.

Better get my trash out before it starts! (See -- that's positive thinking!)

Thank you Wendy! I love this time of year. This is the earliest we've had snow in September since the 1960s!! LOL! And next week we are supposed to be back up into the 80's. LOL! I much prefer the cooler weather.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, too!

Diane, that is a beautiful view!! This should be a good winter, in terms of snow accumulations/snowfall, for you folks out west. Some weather models have been predicting that this winter is going to be worse than the last one and last longer too, perhaps till next May/June. Time will tell if the forecasts were right/wrong. Having said that though, i'm actually hoping that we end up with a frozen lake/record snowfalls this year ;)...

Cheers!

Thanks Marlene! I think I'll keep it....much better than 100! LOL

Thanks Sai! Our last winter lasted into June of this year. I do hope we get some colors in the leaves. Would hate to not have the Fall colors because of this early freeze and snow. :(

That's so beautiful, Diane. I've always thought that beautiful, glistening snow is a reward for braving the colder temps. It's getting colder here, too, in the NW, although I hadn't noticed until today. Every morning I've been waking up to 75 degree temps, but I couldn't figure out why. Today I realized I had left my electric baseboard heater on all summer, so it was kicking back into action! Think I need a brain transplant, lol. Enjoy the snow!!

Thanks Patricia. :) Too funny about your baseboard heat. I'm laughing WITH you..not AT you! LOL! We've had flannel sheets on our bed all year. The weather has been so unpredictable. I wouldn't change it, though.

I am NOT envious of your snow - but of your cooler temps - I'd like to trade for just a few days - it's in the 90's and sweltering here in n. central FL.

I'll try to send some cool air your direction Roy! 😊

There is a frost warning out for Minneapolis/St Paul tonight...can't believe it..want to live elsewhere..

Add me to the list of those who are envious of you, Diane! We've spent the last 6 weeks with heat indices ranging from 100 to 107 every day, and although this summer has been cooler than most during the last few years, it's darned sure hot enough. I would LOVE to see some snow right now!

Apparently the same front that gave you that beautiful white stuff is now on our doorstep. Unfortunately, the warm most air of the Gulf of Mexico almost always beats back the cooler air. We are forecast tomorrow to have a high of only a bone-chilling 82 degrees! (Hey, seriously, that is cool for us!)

Good thing I packed the snow chains....I'll be there Monday.

By the way, you may want to clone out the wire cables in the photo, customers would not want to see them. :-))))))) Teasing!!!

well, the weather is upside down in many places, LA has a heatwave with over 100, so my options are

hide inside the house with the airconditioning on

drive to the beach and enjoy

I think you will all know which one I opted for

have a great weekend everyone and don't send the snow my way please

Rain and EXTREME heat down here every single day.... I usually hate the cold but can not wait for it at this moment. So yes, I am jealous too!

@Delilah -- You're in my neighborhood. If the wind shifts and we don't get that cool front this weekend . . . somebody's gonna pay!

I just checked the forecast and we're expecting 66 degrees at 6 a.m. Can you even imagine?!?! :-)

Crossing my fingers the Polar Vortex doesn't return this winter although it might be here to stay.

Unbelievable! I just finished swimming, although I had to do it in a lake instead of the ocean because a couple of days ago I felt like I was verging on hypothermia after a dip in the sea. Calgary, Alberta (one province over from me) got a dump of snow a few days ago and it has really messed things up.

Nooooooooooooooo Not Snow! It is beautiful Diane...but oh I don't like it.

Northern New Mexico weather is perfect for me, never reaches 100 in summer and very dry,no need for AC, winters are mild with only short periods of cold and snow, cold at night with bright sunny days and if you want snow just drive up the mountains to above 10,000 feet and you can get all you want..

Delilah...enjoy your "bone chilling 82 degrees!" Still too hot for me. Our snow is pretty much gone now, except for the north face of the mtn. Will be going up tomorrow to enjoy and work a little.

Jeffrey....it's just a quick iPhone photo...not for sale.... :) I wish our power lines were underground....I'd get much better shots from our kitchen window! LOL! LOL!

I'll try to share the cooler weather for those who want it. :

Have a great weekend everyone! STAY COOL!! ;)
