Need Your Advice And Help

I have joined FAA over four months now, but I haven't made any sell. Would you please help me to understand what's wrong and what I should do?

I think this image in particular is rather lovely & would certainly sell here for a Landscape.
But you do not have the green resolution Square box turned on - so I can't see how it would look printed larger.

Having the green box on, is a negative to use. It commonly distorts images so they look awful. I would go more with a better use of key words. There sre some, but using better keywords would do a lot more for it.

I hope you do realize you will need to promote yourself. FAA will not do that for you.

Think of FAA as a social media site as well as a place to sell your art work. Get ore involved in groups, contests, etc. You need to help people find you. Also do a search on the discussion boards. You can start on the "Help" tab above the current threads. There have been a multitude of helpful threads here and advice given by many folks. Jeffery above me gave some good advice while Mike below me is about to give you some good, if blunt, advice as well.

you have many images that are just snap shots. like this dog is just sitting here doing nothing. you have no description. you mentioned super dog, but there is no explanation why.

images don't only have to look nice, but look nice in a house

i like this shot, but only the buildings. the foreground is dark, has that sign, it doesn't catch the eye, but the skyline does. you have very few keywords that would attract attention.

Art Prints
you don't want any effects - they don't help. unless this dog ate plutonium, effects like these may scare off buyers, because they can do the same in their phone. the question is here - do you have this hanging in your own house? and if so where? is it framed? presentation is very important, getting down on it's level, getting eye contact, no collars, better backgrounds - you want something a buyer can't make themselves.

overall the dog shots are snapshots that would only interest the dog owner - you. the rest has a feeling of vacation travel, but it doesn't really catch the eye. you have to have descriptions and better keywords. you need more images, and to start people in galleries. you have to do your own advertising, but you also need more work. you also want a biography. i would also change the avatar, your head is lost in the background, and the trapezoid shape suggests it was crooked and you left the crop. go for color.

It takes most people a long time before they sell something. Rarely someone will sell within the first months of joining. It took me a year and I'm still not selling a whole lot. Be patient, promote yourself as much as possible, and don't keep checking to see if you sold anything or not. Try not to think about it.

How to turn the green resolution Square boxt on? I would like to know. This image large size is up to 24'' x 17.8''.

It's not that you need it to sell - it is just so that we can get a better view to how it would print - or if there might be a problem.

Some people leave it off - some on.

When you upload an image there is a box to check off that says something about the resolution / its next to the question for "safe viewing" - you can find it in "behind the scenes" for a default setting.

"How to turn the green resolution Square boxt on? I would like to know. This image large size is up to 24'' x 17.8''."

-- Go to your name in the upper right hand corner and click on it
-- Click on "Behind the Scenes"
-- Click on "Default Settings"
-- Scroll down to "Default Upload Settings" and click the Yes box beside "Enable Full Resolution Preview"

It is the only box under tat section that I have checked. I say no to watermarks and automatic posting to Facebook, etc.

many of the boxes are on, so it must be in the edit picture. i leave mine on to show i'm not hiding anything and for people to see it up close (like looking at a diamond with a loupe).

Mike, The reason I don't write description because I am not good at, very embarrassed to say that. But I am going to try it hard and start again :)

i know its hard to do, but google picks up on these things and it helps a buyer understand why you made it in the way you did. after a while you can get a feeling of what to say. for example, if you were describing to your friend any of the images you have above - what would you say to them?

it was a foggy morning, the air was clean and fresh, you smelled juniper in the air. the sky was so warm and pleasant and you can go on from there. just give people a starting point. i would stick to the landscapes, when you add more images btw.

selling is a lot of work, you need to have many images overall, good descriptions and tags, and advertise constantly. on the plus side, i don't think anyone else has your exact name (some have issues with that), so that's a plus in your favor, but it does take a lot of work.

Welcome, Vicky. If it makes you feel any better, there are many, many of us who have been here for YEARS with sales only in the single digits. Four months is a blink of an eye. The number one thing you need to do is market yourself elsewhere and direct buyers to your work here. Best of luck.
