I just saw that and was getting to make a post about it, until I saw this thread. Nice work, Sean!

Loree Johnson

I just saw that, too. After my uploading problem went away. Coincidence?

Donna Proctor

I just uploaded a new image and there it was! Wasn't there and then it appeared ...

Yes JC - sweeet! Thanks Sean! x.

I just checked my AW site, and it doesn't appear to be implemented there yet.

Very nice. Thanks, Sean!

I'm digging the new paper options... metallic? Loving it!

"I just checked my AW site, and it doesn't appear to be implemented there yet"

I wouldn't expect it to be implemented there. After all, everything on the AW is more from the same artist. :-)

Metallic paper has been available since January or February.

I think this is a great move! Thank you!

Good point. Loree, but thinking it's still "...more from" the same person, like it is here for each individual person.

Donna Proctor

Jeffrey - thanks for noticing Metallic prints! Thank you Sean! :)

Edit - Thanks Loree - I never noticed it.

Whoa! I just saw that! Now is the time for me to send my clunkers bye-bye, lest they show up randomly. Been putting that off.

Jenny Rainbow

Wow, just noticed this feature - so sweet and great! Thanks, Sean! And I love that content rotating with every renewal of the page!

Edward Fielding

True - good incentive to clean out any embarrassments. Can't hide them at the bottom anymore.

Phyllis Beiser

Just noticed it too, I love it! Thanks Sean.

"Patricia Strand

Ya know, that was my very first thought.....

Patricia Strand

I just clicked on several of my latest uploads, and the "New From" selection is always the same images -- loaded from the very bottom of my entire portfolio, which is where I put my least favorite pieces. Oh, boy.

Love this feature, but I sure wish the selections didn't come from the bottom.

Edit: Sorry JC and Edward, I just saw your posts. I don't mean to belabor this point.

JC Findley

I think they are more random than that Patricia, and have to do with similar keywords.

Mine seemed to match the image I was looking at.

That is awesome! Thank you, Sean.

But is anyone else noticing a lot of duplicates? Every time I refresh, I get at least one image that's duplicated, and sometimes two. Just curious.

Bonfire Photography

Mine are showing only the very first items uploaded also.

Patricia Strand

No duplicates on my end, April. Perhaps it is still being worked on.

It is an excellent idea, and for those who opt not to have comments on their work because buyers might click on another artist, this could be a great way for them to stay focused on OUR art. Very cool.

Please note this addition was on a suggestions list sent in :)

I just saw this & wanted to see if anyone had commented on it! It is absolutely awesome!!! Thanks so much for listening to this wonderful suggestion!!! :-)

Keeps that hard earned visitor focused and gives older work a chance to grab a breath of fresh air - especially if its been at the bottom of the pile for a long time.

Loree, thanks!! I guess I was having a "duh" moment -- I rarely go into my AW, so the obvious escaped me.

Perhaps we aren't informed of changes taking place because it would generate too many questions. As it is now, all we have is the discussion board upon which to ponder this newest development, so we are contained here. It can be a bit frustrating to not know what's going on, but patience was mentioned. I'm going to try that.

Andrea Lazar

Jeff - thank you, those are the same ones I got.
If this new change is in fact just a test, that it is totally understandable. But I've seen this done elsewhere with a test group who know about it and their feedback and experience is considered or helps with the final changes.
If here it is across the board, if we had all been told about it, than this entire thread would be unnecessary.
So it would have been nice to let us know - just sayin' .........

. . the images in our Private Collections which are password protected are in fact appearing in the random previews . . Sean needs to correct that . . . .

I have to chime in, too...like nearly everyone else, I really like this feature!

I do agree, though, with folks that would like it to be a rotating gallery. My six images seem to be the most recent I have uploaded. It just so happens that most of them are children-related, as that is what I have been working on lately. I would hope that anyone looking at them doesn't think that is all I do. If it can't be a rotating gallery, then I think there should be a way to opt-out of this feature.

Mark Tisdale

Ah, I just noticed there's now a sort of part 2 to this feature!

If you do a search from the top of the site, you will notice a little drop down arrow by each member's name in the results! Give it a click!

You'll see other results from their portfolio that match the search and the first handful of works in their entire portfolio. Each with links to see more!

Very cool! I wouldn't be surprised if others had requested something similar but that does fulfill part of a recent suggestion I made so very cool to see it implemented!

Thanks Sean!

Gill Billington

Wow that is so cool Mark I hadn't noticed that!

This little change in the design of the site was a main factor in my recent decision to upgrade my account. Great stuff!

Loree Johnson

I tried to see the drop down arrow, but every time I put in a search phrase I get dumped to the sign-up page. (And needless to say, I'm already signed up, lol!)

Mark Tisdale

I only noticed it this morning, Gill. Not sure if it had been around longer but really like it! I've already seen in the stats that more people are lingering on my work since the "see more" links were added on the actual art pages. Hope the addition of the option to search for more by the same artist will help, too. Before it took so many hoops if you liked something by a given member and wanted to see more on the same subject by that member. Hopefully customers will make use of it. :-)

Loree - weird, so you can't search on the site right now? Works for me as I just tried one. Hope it's not a problem buyers are experiencing or it was a brief issue...

Marlene Burns

ark, that seems to be somehting that only some of us are experiencing....I'm with Loree

Menega Sabidussi

mark, thanks for the info! that is an excellent feature, just tested it, working fine!

Connie Fox

Thanks for this great new feature. What I've noticed so far is that it doesn't rotate all my images--just my sales.

Loree Johnson

Well, it's still happening, so not very "brief." And yes, I hope buyers aren't experiencing the same thing...

Mark Tisdale

That sounds like a bug that needs its own thread to be sure support knows it's happening. They might not realize it's happening but two of you being unable to use the search function likely means it's affecting more than a handful. :-(

" More From " ... that is a brilliant idea!! Hat tip to Sean!! Reminds me of what my Wordpress blog does. I notice that no matter what image you're looking at, the thumbnails below it are the first five on the front page of my gallery. So it's important to have in those positions what we want buyers to see when they are viewing our images .... whether that be most sold or most commented on, or a selection of our genre.

Peggy Collins

Lovely! I'm doing a happy dance!

Mike Nellums

No matter what image I go to, the "More From" thumbnails are always the same images. They're not from the top of my last uploads nor the bottom of my portfolio. Just the same 6 images. I love the new feature just wish my other 2239 images could get equal rotation.

Mark Tisdale

Mike - these two are different:

http://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-fisherman-mike-nellums.html
http://fineartamerica.com/featured/autumn-delight-mike-nellums.html

We've yet to get any kind of firm explanation of how the new feature works but my observations are that if you have images in multiple galleries, i.e. maybe you have one in a broad travel gallery and it's also in a specific location gallery, the thumbnails get kind of "random" for lack of a better word. They don't match the subject well. And the more galleries it's in, the less the system seems to be able to cope with finding "similar" images to show.

There also seems to be some sort of minimal number needed in a gallery before it will show any others at all. My smallest galleries, the "see more' images are always just my first six in my main portfolio. I haven't got the critical mass required whatever it may be.

I noticed a lot of your galleries are quite large which I think is the other end of the equation. I went to one of your smaller ones which was how I found an image with a different set of "see more" images. It wasn't random chance. I knew from what I'd seen so far that those big (possibly overlapping) galleries were probably why you were seeing the same set of images beneath.

I wouldn't rush off to rearrange, though. You never know if we're seeing the last iteration of this feature, but it's at least a little insight into how it's working now.

I am thinking the differences people are experiencing have to do with their profile default at the time of the change but I have not yet been able to prove my theory.

the 'see more' option works great on other sites, with images constantly rotating..perhaps this is where sean is hoping to be, ultimately

Thank you Sean!
