First thing I did on my new comp is delete McAfee. It was heavily bogging down the machine. Now, I use Avast, which is free. No issues at all with it blocking my website/artwork

I guess the point here is - Is McAfee (installed on millions of computers) blocking FAA for some reason?

Sandra, when you say "my website" what does that mean?

We're on our fourth computer here, including my wife's laptop, and we remove McAfee from everyone of them. As Jeffrey mentioned it was bogging-down our machines.

Ok, but do we have to say "Please remove McAfee" from your computer before using this site?

Unless she is posting from a different machine, she can access FAA. More information on her part would be needed to fully comprehend what is transpiring. It could be a simple virus software setting.

Since it is a new machine, it may not necessarily be the virus software that is causing the problems, though. It could be something (a plugin, perhaps) in the website browser that is triggering things. Maybe the browsers need to be updated. Has she downloaded any new extensions? This is the first case I've heard of here. With millions of people using McAfee, surely people visit FAA.

What happens when McAfee is temporarily disabled - can FAA be accessed?

get rid of mc affee - they make terrible software. ours once firewalled the entire system on its own. it couldn't even update itself. i use avast, its free and works better.

I had to remove McAfee as well. Had the same thing as Mike. All of a sudden, I couldn't use the internet at all. If I get a machine with it on, I delete it immediately. Having nothing is almost better than having McAfee... I've used avast and the microsoft security essentials...

and beware when updating Adobe Flash - there is a McAfee to uncheck - or it will add it to your computer. That really p'eeees me off. Why is it that you have to uncheck stuff to keep it off your computer - why shouldn't you have to check it. Oh - I know - McAfee pays them when you goof and add their sorry program to your computer and then have to jump through hoops to get rid of it.

I have McAfee on my computer and I am not blocked...

I used McAfee Internet Security for a long time because it came free with my internet service. But with each new "upgrade" my computer started running slower and slower, and CPU usage jumped through the roof. I switched to Zone Alarm and now my computer hums along just fine.

I still use McAfee Site Advisor for browsing protection. That doesn't cause any problems.

But that brings me to a caution. McAfee makes multiple products which may be on your machine. Do you know whether it is McAfee anti-virus, firewall, or Site Advisor which is causing your problem?

OK thank you for all the suggestions and answers
Let me look after work on Friday and see what I can discover
I have used Norton in the past as far as the type of McAfee I have all three I believe so will look to see what is going on by shutting all down and turning one at a time on
or I might take it off and put Norton on
although my question now is how many people have this problem when they pull up FAA to look at our art

"my website" = the artist website I have through FAA

I wouldn't use Norton, either. It's just as much bloatware as McAfee. A few years ago I tried Norton and it screwed up my computer so bad it took me several days to completely uninstall it. I swore I'd never buy another Symantec product again. Maybe they've improved it since then, but they lost me as a customer forever.

Zone Alarm Extreme Security is working exceptionally well for me. It is the least disruptive security software I've ever used. I've also had good experiences with AVG in the past. I decided on Zone Alarm because it has anti keystroke logger protection.
