Anyone Bought On Faa Yet And Tried Out The Faa Shipping? (uk And Us)

A week ago, FAA was announcing, to my great pleasure, and that of all artists that promote their work in Europe as well, that the new Uk center was sending with free shipping. Well, that was fantastic! I took this opportunity to buy from other artists, artwork that i had favored and admired and that was also an opportunity to test FAA services. Verdict...I was very impressed with the quality of the shipping and canvas, very well packed and sent in 2-3 business days, with signature (plus a tax- (30 $) what a nice surprise from the customs service, really heart-warming), but overall prints looked great and canvas of high quality. The thing I found a little over the top though, is that the cardboard paper was about 4-5 times bigger than what it was inside...i.e. the canvas. No wonder their shipping fees are so high…while i understand protection is a priority, the way they were all packed was not so incredibility safe (piercing through by accident was still possible for ex) and thank God it was free shipping otherwise I would have paid the double at best!. .yes yes..the double still :-/ (the only reduction I found is 40 dollars (off over 100$) , and I tested several sizes and options …hmm)
Also was wondering if UPS service was necessary as the one and only option, a greater choice of shipping options would definitely encourage more buyers. My opinion.

What do you think ? what is your experience ?

Anyway, thank you FAA for the free shipping week, that was just great.

Hmmm, I'm facing that very potential issue right now. I want to send a friend one of my prints as a gift, but see that the shipping rate from the US as quoted on FAA is double my cost on my print, lol. Is there a way for me to do this from a FAA partner site...I didn't get/missed the email concerning the free shipping in Europe. Is there another place I need to register to allow for shipping in Europe not to have the high fees or customs fees? Sorry for my probably dumb question, but I've been out of the loop for awhile(not active on FAA), so I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for any potential help.

Barb,

If shipping from the U.S. to Europe, my understanding is the artwork will print in the U.K. and ship from there. Though I have not tried, somewhere during the checkout process the system should recognise what you're doing and the shipping charges should adjust.

FAA are only doing canvas and metal at present via European shipper

yes Jeff, shipping adjust to Uk fees and you get a 40 dollars reduction or so (again depends on the size- but they all seem to come down to the same price), compared to sending from US (as it was before).

and yes Barb, FAA will show you they send from UK (if you want to send to Europe) so you dont need to register anywhere, its automatic adjustment.

Alex,

Thanks for confirming.

Semmick Photo (posts here) lives in Europe and recently purchased a canvas print. You should be able to find his recent discussion, it was just a few days ago.

Thanks Jeff and Abbie! yes, I can see now that when I switched to a canvas version of the print, it was actually cheaper in total, thanks.
