As we head into the Christmas selling season how about a new direction in the sales thread? Sales up anyone?

I've had a great July, and August was superb. September so far is slow.
Last year October, November, and December were my big months. So we will see.

Sept just started and people are shelling out for kids clothes, supplies and athletic fees. But the good news is the kids are off the computer - time to buy Christmas cards and Christmas gifts.
My last two payments were in the ballpark of last March and January (highest months so far). My sales just started to move last Nov. after being here for a few years so I'm looking forward to some healthy numbers this season.

I haven't noticed any difference yet. But I'm looking forward to this last quarter, it's been a good year so far.

I'm having a good week including a couple of sales on DesignerPrints along with 75 cards and a repeat seller here (FAA).

Someone from Wisconsin bought a number of stretched canvas prints on DP Tuesday. I saw quite a few on the sales page. Two were mine.

I had a spike in July, but deadsville since then. Better on one of my other sites.
I'm this close to embarking on a life of crime to pay the bills. but thought I'd try a YouTube/social media attack before doing anything drastic. Time to get back to work!

Our sales have been quite steady all year but we did see an upswing in the past 3 weeks. Sales for us are definitely up since the last pay check period. We are super happy and feel very blessed. Wishing good vibes, luck, and blessings for all who are awaiting sales and working hard to get them!

It is ONLY the 4th day of September - I just opened THIS account this year and I've had two sales - one last month.

Since the second week of August, yes. But the next 11days will be telling sInce this pay period a year ago was my best ever on FAA.

for starters, add more keywords and put descriptions on everything. you also have to advertise daily.

I'm nearing the end of my second year here. In January I also added a second pod. Between the two sites I have been making monthly sales for a year. Some months more than others...but much, much better than the first year. Overall, the last 6 months have been better than the first this year and the frequency of sales over the last 3 months still seems to be increasing. So yes...up. With that said, a long way to go till I build my vacation home with the profits ; )

A pretty good August all around but September started out well - hoping I don't jinx myself!

Nothing this month or last month, but July was great. August 15th got my biggest paycheck from FAA.
I sold three original painting in August at one of my galleries (should get that paycheck Saturday) and this month I'm in a studio tour. Hopefully, I will do well.
The two galleries I'm in, each had the best month of August they have ever had. Somewhere in the 40,000 dollar amount in sales.

Look on the recent sales and you can see the Halloween sales have started. Lots of skeletons. I sold a cemetery photo last Sunday but not sure if is because of Halloween. It was a marble angel with a broken off wing. Second sale on it. "Recently sold" is accessed from the home page on the bottom left under "Today". It has how many hours ago on there now.
August was maybe my best month so far this year. Last year it was even better but I had a 10 image sale from a buyer. Christmas is not a major deal as my collectors buy mostly stuff more appropriate in an office. But one can always hope. There is something for everyone. Including spooky cemetery pictures. I am going hard after Florida Christmas images this year. Something I neglected in the past. I have some unique opportunities coming up.

Sales are up for me this year. I doubled sales my second year and have tripled them this year, being my third with Fine Art America!! Looking forward to a great fall season!

July = awesome, sales every couple days or so.
Looks like I won't be getting a check in October though, no sales since July 31st... very strange for me to go an entire month without a sale!

There are lots of advice threads.. use the discussion search box and type in marketing.... read, read, and read til you can't take in anymore
And of course, right after posting my previous post I got a sale. small, but sales a sale!

Wow. this is impressive - congrats on all the sales. I noticed that the majority of you have been here for a few years already - guess us newbies really have our marketing work cut out for us.

J L Meadows - still here?
Becca - welcome to the long road of hard work ahead.
Jim - what is your plan to turn things around?
Amy - fantastic work but the machine was more. Get crankin' ;-)
Janice - Yup, people who stick it out and work hard see results. Perhaps, not in the first month, maybe not in the first year, maybe not in the second year. Like anything most people give it a few months and then toss in the towel. Its been said that it takes three years to get any business off the ground, most people lose interest within the first year.
Bottomline is sales are not growing at the rate of new artist/work coming in. If you want it, you have to want it more then the next guy.

Nothing here since May 29th, but I've sold a few things elsewhere. Now that my son is back in school, though, I will be devoting much more time and energy in marketing and building up my body of work. Fingers crossed.

July and early August were great but after Aug 9th (which was the single biggest sale) sales have fallen off to a big fat zero.
Just got back from10 days wandering around Squamish, British Columbia and the parks up there so that should yield anywhere up to 500 new shots so hopefully that will jump start sales.
Got the first tiny check from sales in an actual bricks and mortar gallery today so that was pretty cool.

No sales yet ! I have been here a little over a year but then I only use Facebook,Twitter & Pinterest to advertise so I guess it's my own fault.I don't even know where to begin.I have many of my images on walls through out my home & I am very pleased with them.I guess I just have to hope someone out there will feel the same!

Note: Information is only as good as the source. Take any reports with a grain of salt. Use your best judgement as whether the info is just random or actually indicates a trend.

I'm seeing strong Sept sales. On par with other good months. But I have notices a difference in the items being ordered. Sept is probably move in month for a lot of college students - new dorm rooms, new apartments etc. Also big move in month in general.
This time of year people also start looking around their homes and wonder what they can do to spruce up before the relatives show up for Thanksgiving.
while i only sold a card yesterday, i am getting more sales now. though they aren't dorm material even though i thought i had some. maybe my wizard costume isn't convincing enough. my halloween costume will attract more attention but i can't post that till later this month.
there was a drop off of posters in the forum, i can only surmise that people are trying to get one last rush of summer this weekend to celebrate not going to school for 2 days. so many are probably out this weekend. but there is a cold snap coming next week, and with people used to the warmth, they will probably be inside.

Summer weather continues, I think you are right Mike, need a cold snap to make people think about Christmas.
so many places are set up for xmas, our labor day parade had a sad sorry winter theme in 95f heat. i felt only slightly bad for the people in full body costumes that day. according to accuweather, there may be frost warnings for parts of the US by next week. bad for my plants, but maybe good for sales.

So far only on other sites. This one still bats zero. But then my business is picking up too. I landed three writing contracts this week-end, so I am happy. :)

Nada here for a couple of months but I'm still selling well on the "other site" as we now call it.

I am up 1.6% over same number of days in the last pay period.
I have been doing about the same marketing, spreading my efforts about 25% for my FAA AW and 75% for my other websites.
I have one eBay store that is up over twenty some odd percent but that is because of a couple of large sales. The number of actual sales are about the same. Maybe a small up tick, a percentage or two like here on FAA.
I usually have not seen a big Christmas uptick until mid to late October.
I have products that are custom made to order and can take10-15 days to build and ship so I really start pushing the "buy early" theme in early October. Seems to get the season buying going that way.
as long as it keeps trending my sales amount is currently exceeds what i made last month with fewer sales, hoping that trend will continue to balance out the slow summer. it seems more people are contacting me about different things this month as well. selling it as stock or some kind of custom orders.

On the news this morning - 20.6 percent of Americans have already started buying for Christmas.
Very slow compared to last year even though I have increased efforts on social media. Hopefully, when I do the outdoor shows (florida) I will increase traffic by handing out my marketing materials. Last year I didn't do any outdoor shows due to lack of help and injury.

Latest payout I'd say was flat. Not surprising considering most people have vacation on their minds in July - August.
Ok now that we've closed the books on Sept. sales.
Sept was my third best month overall. January 2014 was my best month ever, followed by June 2014. The over all trend for the year is a steady increase. Looking forward to the Christmas buying season once we get Halloween out of the way.
sept did really well, oct is starting slow, hoping it will pick up speed. unless people are waiting for another govt shutdown, or there is something going on, it seems slower than before.

The YOY trend is up but it's like a steam engine that races up the tracks for a few days then runs out of coal for up to a month at a time.

Thanks Edward! I was very surprised at the sale. At the time of the sale I only had 2 images up. It came out of the blue.
