Using The Sale Announcement Page For Promotion

Hi everyone,

I'm a very new member of FAA, and very pleased about it! I've just made my first sale (pretty pleased about that, too!), and got the automatic email from FAA with a link to the Announcement Page for the sale. The email says I can "Visit that page, and click on the appropriate links in order to announce your sale on Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, and Google." Well, I can visit the page, and I see a Facebook icon where I can 'Like' the fact I've made a sale, but I don't see any place to click a link to announce a sale, as the email suggests. Am I missing the point of how to promote the Announcement Page? Am I supposed to manually post something on my Facebook page and link back to the Announcement Page (that's cool if i do, it just seemed from the FAA email that the process was somehow automated). Can anyone clear up for me just how to best use the Announcement Page?

Many, many thanks.

David

Welcome to FAA, and congrats on your first sale! I believe you just have to copy the URL of the sales announcement page and paste it into your FB status, Twitter, etc., if I recall correctly.

Hi April,

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! So it is essentially a manual process? That's fine, I don't mind copying and pasting the URL, I was just confused by the FAA email, which seemed to suggest all I had to do was click on a link to announce the sale on Facebook.

I think there is a FB button on the announcement page, but it never worked for me so I just do it manually. Of course, I haven't had to do it in awhile, but I wouldn't mind needing a refresher course! ;)

I like the idea of a frequent refresher course in making use of the sale Announcement Page!

Here's hoping you get plenty of practice, April! And thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

The Facebook link does work but is a like. You have a separate section to the right of other peoples pages where they see what you just liked

However that feed is fleeting and most do not even know it is there so copying and pasting the link is best

i always advertise the page, it proves that you made a sale and aren't just blowing smoke. just like any other image i tell people about it, and post that page on twitter and facebook. and all the sales pages in the forum and groups. twitter you send a tweet, and like the page for facebook. for facebook you post the url and any hashtags you used on twitter, i usually mark if its a canvas or whatever. for facebook though i add a quick blurb, as i find people see them more if i add a little text, often something kind of funny, so it attracts attention.

Hey, thanks Mike. Those are extremely helpful pointers and just the sort of things a neophyte like me can understand. I really appreciate your ideas!

Hi David, welcome and congrats on your sale! I just made my first sale and had the same issue with the facebook button, so thank you for asking the question.

At least you got an email about the sale though! I only knew I had a sale because the buyer dropped me an email, I got nothing from FAA (and yes, I checked my junk folder just in case).

Hi Dee. Always happy to ask the dumb questions first :-)

Congrats on your first sale. I just took a look at your galleries, and, oh my, you've got some very, very good photos. It will just be a matter of time before you make more sales; those are great shots! You're from my neck of the woods - my wife is a Calgary native and we lived in BC before moving to the UK a decade ago. Its great to see such wonderful photos of Alberta.

sometimes the email never comes, issues with the site, and you may get it months from now. but the link is in the sale area anyway. i check accounting/sales every few min.

Thank you David, that's so kind of you!

Actually, I'm from the UK but have been living in Calgary for about 7 years now, so we've swapped locations. I love Alberta, it's just so inspiring and beautiful. I've just been admiring your castle photos, I'll have to follow along now for your lovely photos of my home :o)

Hi Dee.

That's rather funny, how we've exchanged locations! I agree; western Canada is a dream location for a photographer. I used to live in the Kootenay valley of BC, but we travelled across the Rockies many times to visit my in-laws in Calgary. You've found yourself a very special part of the world.

If you enjoy photos of Britain you might enjoy my 'other' website at http://www.david-ross-photography.co.uk/ (gee, I hope its kosher to link to an outside website from this forum!). I've been in love with the UK since I was a kid, and most of my photography is an effort to express my love for the amazing landscape and heritage of my adopted home. So, I hope you enjoy some views of your old home!

Thanks David, I've bookmarked the page so I can have a good read with a nice cup of tea and some biscuits ;-)

We may well end up back there someday, so keep showing me what I'm missing! In the meantime we have a lot of exploring to do on this side of the pond.
