Should I Include A Web Address...?

I'm getting onto another POD to sell some t-shirts, etc. I see this merchandise as essentially being walking advertisements and want to add a url on the image, but I also wonder if doing this would cheapen the product and deter buyers. Any thoughts or advice?

No, just add your name (make it small and legible) and people will find you through Google if they are interested. Buyers are most definitely turned off by website addresses in artwork.

That's like asking buyers to spend their own money to advertise your business. Why, when they can get paid for this, instead:

I get what you're saying, Wendy but I also know people who successfully sell and advertise in this way, albeit for a different type of business. I don't want to muddy up the art so I'm going with April on this. I'll hide it as conspicuously as I can.

unless your buying it for yourself, there won't be too many keen on advertising your store and yeah it will look tacky. plus it would have to fit on every object you sell. the only way you can get away with it is if you can make a symbol that everyone loves then associates it with you - hilfiger, alligator etc are such symbols. and if you hide it - no one will be able to see it, and therefore it's time wasted because a buyer won't see it.

stick with your images and thats it.

I agree...no. Some use advertising on their products...Coach, Michael Kors...come to mind...or like Mike said symbols...but even they don't include a web address. Personally...I don't want to carry logos and such and if I saw "a hidden" advertisement on my clothes...well I wouldn't like it and would never wear it.
