Post Images of thought provoking Sculptures your own or someone else's, No Nudity that does not comply with FAA Rules. This is not a thread to discuss thought provoking art, just post your thought provoking art.
Moderators, if this is against any rule please advise me and I will gladly remove the offending image or close the thread at your direction. But it's my understanding that political and religious art is not against FAA rules like discussions are.

Thank you very much Carolyn!
This is a third sculpture in the series of the previously posted two sculptures above , I would caution you to please not jump to conclusions regarding this sculpture, the sculpture is making a statement against war (and only that), addressing the conflict between Israel and Gaza, I have not denoted in anyway which of the 2 subjects is either portraying the Israel side or Gaza side of the conflict, that is not what the sculptures ultimate meaning is, this sculpture is one of 3 in a series and implores the sentiment " STOP the killing", be it on one side or the other, the value of human life is the predominant meaning I wanted to convey. Please do not discuss.

Thanks Ronald. Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville TN is a really neat place to spend time and enjoy the peaceful restful feeling one gets.

Jeffery, spiritual is certainly fine, I'm more interested in the emotion that each sculpture evokes or portrays, thanks for sharing them, this one I'm drawn to the eyes! Keep them coming if you have more.
Thanks Jerry!

Mario, one of the big time strengths of your works is they make you think at multiple levels, I esp. like the work "Stop".

@Ronald, certainly the sculpture "Stop" has been my most misunderstood piece and also one of the most celebrated, Thank you for getting it! I saw earlier this evening on T.V a look back in history and they were talking about the Smothers Brothers Show, One of the brothers was discussing the show in an interview and he stated any time you Say or present some thing meaningful and honest your going to offend some one , I thought to myself what a profound statement to be made by a comic.
@Kevin, I find both your sculptures very unique,After The Tsunami does in fact look very much like a bonsai and how appropriate for the tragic event. Your "Bury My Heart" reminded me of a sculpture I long sold but I had to go find the image in another gallery to post it for you. Thanks for sharing those sculptures!

I mean No disrespect to the deceased . But this structure looks more like a place to live in than a place to be laid to rest in.

First thought was someone passed out from drinking. Then I thought it could be a college student who had a cup of coffee but just could not stay awake. Layers of possible interpretation, depending on the baggage the viewer brings to the table.

Or maybe Ronald, something more sinister, he was having an affair with a waitress at the bar who's boy friend also works there and knew of the affair so he poisoned the bottle a head of time. The fact that the art does not tell the whole story does not imply the inability of the artist to communicate effectively and leads to controversy as it was implied, oh but that was in another thread and about another sculpture. I think not telling the whole story with the art actually makes it more interesting and intriguing. I can think of many movies that ended in mystery and intrigue even after telling a story for 2 hours, the ending mystifies or ends in a most unexpected way.

The interesting thing is it's the only sculpture I have that I have not given a title to and it's the one that received the most visits and comments in my image gallery.,

Mario, that museum is very unique in the type of art it has. It's been a while since I've played chess as well even though I was on the chess team in High School. My father made a chess table for my Christmas gift one year. It's made out of seven types of wood. I used it recently to set up a photo of chess pieces...

@ Melany, thank you very much for your kind words and the compliments and favorites of my work!
I found this gem in your gallery and thought I would post it here, I really found the description you provided very interesting also.
@Brian, very neat!
@Mellisa, Lovely painting and you captured the facial expression!

Mario I am amazed at the range of expression you achieve with the simple figures you use, it's very impressive!

Thank you Robert, using the same style figure has really freed me to explore the different aspects of the sculpture, like movement, emotion and story telling, so if I get an idea I can easily execute it with out much thought as to how am I going to communicate this feeling or concept, the figures really help me to accomplish this in an efficient manner. This sculpture I made today only took 2 hours to make. It's kinda like playing with a toy action figure you can move the legs arms, etc. Since I made so many of these already making the figure only takes me 30 or 40 minutes, even less. This allows for a lot of practice and perfecting with each new sculpture.

I made my way back to the Granary in Georgetown, MD. I took a picture of the sculpture plaque and it says...

OOOOh...nice thread Mario. Didn't see this one floating around..
Here's my fractal sculpture with description.. :-)
195 million years worth of stormy seas pounding away at primitive lifeforms created this stone...
And now a (slightly less) primitive lifeform pounding away at this stone created these stormy seas..
What a beautiful fractal universe we are!
